The more I engage with this fandom the more I appreciate the writing of Patho classic and the less I appreciate the writing of P2 and subsequently P3. I wish I could post an audio ranting about this or something as I find the method of typing words out to fail me most of the time.

To me, Pathologic has always felt like a game about colonialism hiding behind plague metaphor. I dislike how p2 and p3 have taken out some of that complexity in pclassic and made it somewhat palatable. The player is the actor playing the bachelor, the haruspex, and the changeling. There is discomfort in being forced to play the role of a man who is racist (Daniil). There is discomfort in being forced to play the role of a man whose indigenous identity is central to his character when you as the player are not a member of the Kin and must make these decisions for him. That discomfort is good and important as there is nothing comfortable about pathologic. That is theater of cruelty and theater of the absurd.

I hold this game very dear to me
