i make my birdy ironwall style & a pilot guide who helps bring arrivals into the dense skyline of ironwall without causing any accidents

i ditched the tiddy window for a while because it was a bit silly before deciding to double down because 99% of his characterisation is located in his nipples and it gives more of a focal point for the whole modesty situation in ironwall. the anatomy is fairly boring otherwise tbh it's a more humany style than harpies from my other settings not much to say about it

was going to then draw some clothing to work out how these guys wear their fashionable modesty sacks but this took so long i got so tired and hes a nudist anyway so w/e. no excuses for the second guy though

the airspace around ironwall in the 1980s [during the big push for expansion and tourism] is starting to get quite complex, with new high-rise accommodation for harpies and affluent humans and an airport outside the city. during the initial electrification of Ironwall, power lines were run sort of two floors over street level, forming a kind of electrified net under which low-income harpies were trapped, unable to freely access the sky. but as electrification became more widespread and mandatory, even the high rises were enmeshed within a labyrinth of wires. and sure you might not be electrocuted by contact with the wires anymore, that's still a three-dimensional trap which could smack you in the face at best and fatally entangle you at worst.

so the city set up their pilot guide program. these skilled fliers helped guide people into the heart of the city airspace, maintaining radio contact and flying set safe routes for visitors to follow. in the 90s, many of the wires and obstacles were removed (mostly to improve the view from the luxury apartments), and electronic visual approach slope indicators could be mounted along busy flight routes to help guide people in
