The premiere of the movie was on 23 September 1969.

The closing shoot-out in the movie was filmed in Tlayacapan, Mexico standing in for Bolivia.

Harry Longabaugh (aka the Sundance Kid) and Etta Place photographed in New York City circa 1901 before sailing to Argentina, where place would become one of the country’s first female landowners purchasing around 2500 acres.

I like to think that this portrait really happened. I like to think that when Sundance and Etta took this picture in New York which was sent to friends and family

they also took a picture like they did in the movie with the three of them to keep for themselves.

because it not only would be a stupid risk to send a picture with Butch in it (they probably did know that the mail was being surveilled) but most people they sent the picture to probably didn't know Butch and/or were more interested in the (probably fake) marriage between Etta and Sundance and therefore wouldn't really have a use for a picture with Butch in it too. They were probably mostly the people the two of them visited on their regular trips back to the US and Butch was never with them for those so why would they want a picture with him in it. And since the pictures they sent to the US were the only ones that survived, we'd have no way of knowing what other pictures they might have taken.

And I really adore that someone working on this movie looked at the portrait Etta and Sundance took in New York and said "This is all wrong. It has to be the three of them taking portraits. They were a little family of three."

the fact that butch cassidy and the sundance kid both reportedly loved reading so there's a non-zero chance they could've bonded over loving jules verne

pretty bold of wikipedia to list Etta as both Sundance's wife and Butch's partner (both of which are speculative) but not to also give in to the equally slim but by their standards equally probable theory that Sundance and Butch were romantically involved with each other as well and list them as each other's partners.

Not kidding about how much he hated being compared to Jesse James. Or about how literate he was. IIRC he wrote this from fucking jail. I love you, Sundance. “Partly untrue.” I wish I had the rest of the letter on hand right now, because it continues as scathing and prissy as it looks.
