Part 2. We were in the middle of an intense scene at the end of Part 1, so for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Part 2, we picked up where we left off. ⚡️ The lighting was key in both productions 🔆— the way it not only transformed the stage, but immersed the entire theater! 🎭 The combination of rigging and lighting was astounding as there were moments one could look up and be surrounded by elements of the show! 😲 The acting was superb 💯 (with highlights on Scorpius Malfoy and adult Hermione Granger)! 🧑🏼👩🏾 But truly the entire cast created a believability of continuation of the Harry Potter story! 🧙🏻♀️They clearly worked hard to precisely execute all the slight-of-hand 🃏 and explore the relationships they had amongst each other. 🤝 Over all, I had a marvelous experience with this show. 💕 I understand how some Potter fans may not want it to be canon, but honestly, I prefer it to be. 🤔 As a huge Potterhead, I may sound biased in my review 📝, but know that I went into this show with reservations about whether I wanted it to be canon 🧐(seeing as I never liked the epilogue at the end of the 7th book and even refused to see the epilogue as part of the storyline 🙅🏻♀️)—yet this production won me over! ❤️ And it’s not to say that I didn’t notice some plot holes ⏳🕳, but they were minor aspects that could be put aside in the suspension of disbelief. ⚖️ My favorite scene was the transitional scene with “Staircase Ballet” playing in the background 📶(a lovely, yet bittersweet, bit of choreography involving students and moving staircases). 🎼 And honestly with the beautiful music playing, I almost felt the actors would burst into song at some point 🎤(a Harry Potter musical with an Imogen Heap soundtrack would have been too perfect!). 🥰 If you’re a fan of the franchise but are unsure about watching this show, don’t hesitate 📚📖—it truly is a unique experience and the interpretation for the stage is fantastic 🙌🏼 (even if you don’t want it to be canon 💁🏻♀️).
