So I tried writing fanfiction for the first time ever. And here it is. 

Based on WE (FINALLY) HAVE AN ANNOUCEMENT

Hannah took in a deep breath before she hit record on the camera. “This is it.” She thought to herself. The moment she’d been waiting for. They were finally going to do it. Her and Grace were finally going to tell their audiences they were a couple.

Hannah looked at Grace with a smile, as she always did. Right now in the dim light of the room, the warmth within her brown eyes almost glowed in that way that only Grace’s possibly could.

 Hannah waved at the camera awkwardly, rubbing her hand in small circles on Grace’s back. She knew the other girl was nervous.  But Grace had assured her she was ready to come out, and that she wanted to. And nothing could make Hannah happier.

The pair laughed a bit. “We really should’ve thought this through more. Maybe scripted it.” Hannah said, struggling to find any words to say, let alone the right ones.

“Welcome to a very special episode of Its Grace, um…” Grace began.

Hannah’s eyes began to wander around the room. More anxious than she could’ve ever guessed she would be. Why was she scared at all though? She had no reason to be. She could finally be happy with Grace, in public, not just the comfort of both of their apartments, which they happily travelled between, never spending a night apart. 

Grace scratched at her nose and rested her chin on her hand, drawing attention to the ring Hannah had bought her a few months before. It wasn’t an engagement ring like everyone thought at first, just a present to show she loved her. But Hannah knew one day that she would give Grace an engagement ring, and someday they’d be making another awkward video to announce getting married. 

Hannah spoke for the first time since the introduction. “I guess that, uh, we,” she said, gesturing with her hands in the wild way she does, knowing that Grace would only tease her for it later.

Grace had told Hannah before they’d started filming that she wanted to be the one to say the words. To say that they were in a relationship, and had been for almost a year now. They were in love. They were happy. Together.

“…Tell you, yes. It’s true. We…” Hannah continued, pausing to let Grace take over. She had never felt one of those moments you hear about on tv or read about in books, where time seems to just stop. Until now. Looking at Grace with the feeling of anticipation, knowing that in just a few moments, a few words, her life would be changed forever.  Hannah knew that in just a few moments she’d be able to hold Grace’s hand in videos they shot together, and not have anyone care.  She could kiss her in public and make Grace blush adorably, just because she loved to see it.  She could finally tell all those fanfiction writers that she was the goddamn aggressor. Well, most of the time. 

She held back a smile at the thought as Grace opened her mouth.

“Love to dance!” Grace said with a smile on her face.

Hannah reacted quickly, smiling too, like she was joking, like she knew this was coming.  But she was hurt. A few moments before time had seemed to stop, giving her a chance to see her life with Grace, what it could be, how they could be. Now, time stopped again, giving Hannah a chance to look around as all of what she dreamt could be crumbled around her.
