I'm very interested in hearing which Disney (Pixar can be included) character each "Free!" boy is like. It can be any character, even someone of the opposite gender or an animal! I was trying to think, based on personalities, but I'd love to hear your thoughts!

I’m not very familiar with Disney characters, as I have seen most of the movies perhaps once or twice - except Hercules, Beauty & The Beast and Tangled, I love those!

So, taken that in count, Nagisa and Rei are probably Pocahonta’s pets; the raccoon and the hummingbird.I’d love to see Haru as Belle, kind of “nuh-uh, I don’t fit in, I just want to swim and swim” and he probably finds the Beast with a big olympic pool stored in the dark woods and goes “aaaw yis”.

I can actually think Rin only as Gaston haha.

I would have been okay with it I'd they made the realization of wanting to go pro an actual progress like s1 (where haru was actually an mc) but nope s2 is 90% rin and haru gets 1 episode of "development" which still revolves around rin somehow

Exactly. With this “ending” we saw the whole season 2 with Haru’s development made no sense. Not to mention he has spoken since season 1 that he swims only free and for friends, and you definitely DON’T swim free as pro. You have tight training schedules, special diets, competitions, it’s all about times and passion to win. Haru with his current character development is too eccentric and poetic nature to go pro swimming.

They could have literally give him any career route from chef to pastry chef, from artists to swimming teacher for kids, from marine biologist to actual “I don’t know yet, I’m going to wait for a year and see what I want”.

They should have let me write the script for Eternal Summer. I would have given you Sailor Bara Makoto and gangster Haru (whom secret identity would have been Saba Mask).

I was going through Google looking for how Sakurai looks. Then I spot this pic and for a second I thought he was Haru (because Haru and Sakurai has same VA so it would make sense to see Haru pics while Googling Sakurai)

I assume from the jacket that he is from Yowamushi Pedal (called Arakita, thanks Titanrabu!) but I SIMPLY CAN NOT SEE HARU WITH SUCH FACE AND MY LIFE IS NOW 10000% MORE AMUSING. Perhaps I need to draw snarly Haru going all GGGRRR!!! and HUUUUHHH???!? with everyone haha.

Maybe I'm missing something, but can you please explain why Haru is so afraid of pro swimming? Is it the pressure? The idea of swimming becoming "work"?? I just don't get why he'll swim at competitions but he won't go pro. It's kinda sad cuz he seems to be really lost with what he wants to do. That nightmare was amazing for character development though! He's usually so stoic

Pro swimming doesn't interest Haru the slightest. Everyone else is expecting him to go pro because of his talent, but for Haru swimming never was about times or records or competing or his talent. We already learnt that in season 1. Haru swims because he loves swimming. he loves the freedom the swimming and water provide him. He swims for his friends and does the best he can for them with his talent, because he values their happiness and the joy he gets when swimming with them.
