Part One - Part Two - Part Three - Part Four
Your eyes burned as the light of morning filtered through your bedroom window; your head felt like a rave party was being hosted within your skull and your stomach tossed and turned threating you with revolt if you move. What have I done? You asked yourself as you tried to filter through you brain what had happened. You had yelled at Dean, you had walked yourself home, cried out every tear in your body and you raided the liquor cabinet. Shit. That was the worst decision you could ever make and you hated yourself for it. You promised you would never drink a single drop but from the way your head was hurting you had more than a bottle. Looking around your room, you found yourself in your clothes from yesterday, your shoes laying haphazardly on the floor, ‘That’s not where I put them’ you thought out loud. You looked at your bedside table, you head tilting with confusion; your phone was sitting on charge, ‘That’s also not where I put you.’
The more you looked around your room your thoughts began to return, you had been in your fathers room before going for the booze, there was no way you would make it back to your room. How the hell were you in your bed? Slipping out from between the sheets you found yourself wobbly on your feet and still semi delirious from the night before; you didn’t know what was worse, the feeling in your stomach or the confusion in your head. Something wasn’t right and you weren’t alone. Almost on cue there was a sound of pots and pans clanging together in the kitchen, the disruption tearing you from your thought processes. The echo of footsteps downstairs sent ice down your spine as you tried to focus your brain enough to function, there was someone, no something in the house. Grabbing the colt 45 from the closet you crept towards the room above the kitchen, picking up a spray paint on the way before drawing a devils trap above the suspected creature. You held your breath hoping it would hold whatever it was, but the footsteps left the circle, their path clearly leading up the stairs, oh fuck. Your breath hitched in your lungs, you had been trained for a moment like this but never had you experienced it before. Your father was always there to protect you, now all you could do was fight or run.
You mind rushed through options of escape: shoot your way out, hide or get to the bunker. Mentally running yourself through the house you knew there was only one way to the bunker and it was down stairs past the thing in your house.
Moving from the room with your gun poised, you hoped with everything inside of you that the silver salted bullets would be enough. As you moved down the hall the creature got closer, a weird rattle accompanying it, just like the sounds of chains. Your heart doubled in pace and your brain started spitting out solutions between the flight and fight instincts. You clenched your teeth, your eyes closing out of fear as the creature reached the top of the stairs; your finger went to pull the trigger too scared to see what was in front of you. Before you could squeeze the sounds of smashing plates met your ears as hands quickly pulled the gun from your sweaty hands. “For the love of God, I thought I taught you to never close you eyes while shooting!” Your eyes opened in surprise finding a very shocked Dean Winchester standing in front of you, his hands dismantling the gun at lighting speed, his hands moving out of pure muscle memory.
“What are you doing here?!” You demanded.
“What am I doing here? Helping your drunk ass that’s what! You swore to me you would never drink!” Dean replied, angrily yelling at you, the shock still clear in his face.
“Oh that’s rich coming from you! Now last time I checked I told you to get out of my life and never come back so why don’t you start explaining to me what made you think you could ever step foot in this house. I thought I made myself perfectly clear.” You yelled back at him, your anger at him reaching a new level.
Dean shook his head, his chest moving as he inhaled deeply, his eyes returning to yours with sadness and compassion. “No one should be alone right now, not like this.” His voice was levelled and calm as if he was talking to his own subconscious.
“You don’t have any right to care about me Dean Winchester, you made that decision when you walked away from me.” You still yelled at him, your voice breaking from your words as angry tears began to fall down your cheeks. You swiped at them, furious with their betrayal. “Stay away from me.”
“I was stupid.” He commented, taking a step closer to you, his eyes never leaving your own.
“There’s one thing we agree on.” You spat back, crossing your arms over you chest, clearly closing yourself off to him. But as the words left your lips the smell of the freshly cooked bacon and eggs hit your nose and your stomach lurched, forcing the alcohol in your stomach up your throat. You ran with everything you had towards the bathroom, your arms ripping the toilet seat up as your body rejected everything it had left in it. Dean was by your side in an instant, one of his hands holding your hair back as the other wrapped around you, holding you to him as your body tensed. His lips were at your ears, reassuring you and trying to calm your down as more tears poured out of your eyes. You body lurched forward again as almost black goo left your lips.
“Shit y/n, alcohol poisoning isn’t good,” Dean commented, his hand going to his forehead in frustration.
“I knew I should have woken you up last night after I saw the bottles on the floor.” He finished, mentally kicking himself.
“You’ve been here all night?” You asked your voice jumping an octave as he handed you a towel to wipe your face with.
“Well you weren’t in any state to tell me to go away so I kept watch.” He answered as his hand began wiping the sweat off your brow. “Why did you do this to yourself?” He asked, his voice strained and hurt, just like the way he spoke to you after you were shot.
“Because I’m self destructive; there are no illusions here.” You responded, internally defeated, falling into his arms letting him support you on the cold tile floor. For an instant you were back in the arms of the man you loved, his protection enough to hold you to earth and his comfort able to chase away every nightmare. Your body relaxed for a moment, enjoying the feeling of him being close again, your eyes wanted to close but you wouldn’t let them. Reality was cruel but it was the only truth you knew and could hold on to. Your heart protested but your mind remained rational, pushing yourself out of his arms you stood looking down at the man you used to love. “Dean this changes nothing,” The words left your lips while internally your heart screamed in betrayal. “You need to go.” The words felt like razors on your tongue but they needed to be said. His eyes were hurt, his face too expressive for his own good.
“Y/n, don’t push me away okay? I’m here for you,”
“No Dean, you needed to be here years ago. You can’t just waltz back into my life because of some guilt trip. My father is dead because of you, I am not going to be your next victim.” Every word that left your lips felt like fire, you knew these words would kill him but there was no other way to get him to leave. You couldn’t be around him, you couldn’t do this. Every part of you wanted to fall into his arms, to let him catch you and protect you; but you knew how it felt when he let you go and that pain would forever sit in the pit of your stomach.
Walking out of the bathroom you headed towards the stairs, seeing the broken mess of breakfast littering the steps. Bending over you picked up the shattered plates before heading into the kitchen; Dean’s breakfast sitting perfectly on the bench still steaming. Tossing the broken plates into the trash you looked at the mess and feeling just as shattered as the porcelain; Dean’s footsteps announced his entry into the kitchen.
“Save it Dean, you need to leave me alone.” You said raising your hand, you didn’t want to hear it. His hand clasped around your wrist turning you to look at him. His eyes alight with fire and determination, you had only seen that look many times before and it scared you because when he used it, he always got his way.
“Y/n, you are delusional if you think I’m going to leave you alone after this little episode of self harm.” He practically disciplined. “You’re coming back with Sam and me.” The command in his voice almost making your soul cower.
“Not unless you plan to drag me back kicking and screaming.” You replied, if he wanted another fight you would give it to him. Screw him and his big boy voice, he had no right to tell you what to do. “I’d prefer to die than be anywhere near you.” The words were designed to hurt and from the look in Dean’s eyes, you had succeeded but that didn’t stop him; he set his jaw.
“If you don’t come with me that’s exactly what will happen to you.” His words were like ice, he wasn’t messing around anymore.
“Good, let the big bad monsters come, let them get me.” You replied, your chin jutting up at your words, challenging him.
“No on your lifetime sweet cheeks.” Dean replied as he moved cornering you in the kitchen. His body blocking your exit in all directions.
“Drop the hero act Dean, I don’t want you to save me. Just stop worrying about me.”
“I’m not leaving here without you.”His arms came towards you as he picked you up and hoisted you over his shoulder.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing!” You yelled as you beat you hands into his back.
“Dragging you kicking and screaming.” He replied as he headed out of the kitchen towards the front door. Sam was there with the Impala waiting, his hands crossed over his chest as he took in the sight. “There’s a mess on the stairs and in the kitchen, grab some stuff for her and lock up, you know the drill.” Dean ordered as he loaded you into the car through the drivers door, his hands still holding you in place. He started the engine and roared off down the road.
“You’re crazy! You’re actually kidnapping me.”
“If that’s what it takes to keep you safe.” He replied, his eyes meeting yours, his jaw set as his eyes took in your angry state.
Your arms crossed over your chest, steam practically pouring out of your ears, furious didn’t even begin to cover it. Dean had kidnapped you and there was no way you could get away from him, but you didn’t like it and no amount of forgiveness could make up for what he did.
So, I am unsure whether you noticed, but I went out on a hunting trip and didn’t come back until well now. My tumbling was interrupted due to a break up with my collaboration author on another page, vine shutting down (how rude) and a new relationship with a man who might become my husband very soon (watch this space). But I have decided to get back to what I love which is this and my writing. Thank you for being amazing and being apart of my supernatural family!

Part One - Part Two - Part Three - Part Four - Part Five - Part Six
Your mind whirled with images you couldn’t seem to place, everything felt familiar and distant all at once. Before you knew it you were standing in the old car yard, overalls covering your jeans and singlet and your hair whipped back in a messy bun. You could feel the smudges of grease and oil on your skin but you couldn’t care any less. You’re eyes were trained on the two figures walking towards you, their gait was lethargic and their shoulders were drawn down in pain. But that didn’t matter, what did was there was only two of them. There should have been three.
Your heart raced, who was missing? They were too far away to tell. Your heart was in your throat, your gut in knots as repressed feelings bubbled their way up out of the depths of your mind. Your first thought was for Dean, he was a genius hunter but at times reckless and always was a bleeding heart prepared to put himself on the line for the sake of another. Never would you admit that despite all of your attempts to drown him out of every thought you ever had, he would always be there, green eyes set in a cheeky gaze with his classic half smile reminding you of how much he made you catch your breath. Nothing could stop you from loving him, but that didn’t mean you wouldn’t try.
Sam was your next thought, he was still coming to terms with everything that had happened with his father and was naturally learning how to be a hunter in the field instead of an academic with his head in the books. That didn’t mean he couldn’t hold his own, his giant form was intimidating enough but he could put anyone down in a second if he chose. As your old best friend while he hurt you, he was always going to be the brother you dreamed of having and no matter the hurt he put your through, you’d love him and do anything for him in a moment of need.
Your mind never considered the possibility it would be your dad missing. Bobby was an all too well seasoned hunter that nothing could touch him. Your dad was incredible both on and off the hunting scene and he always had an answer. He was unkillable through everything before and as he grew older while his body slowed his mind picked up. He was the greatest fear of everything that went bump in the night. It was inconceivable for him not to be there. But as your feet begun to race you towards them your heart froze.
Silence took over the world as a ringing sound came from your mind and burst through your ears, your eyes squeezed down in pain as your hands went to clutch your chest from agony as your knees caught you as you fell to the ground; the gravel piecing through your clothes a welcome pain. Nothing, ever, in your entire existence had hurt like this. You opened your mouth and screamed with every bit of strength you had but only silence left your lips, your vocal chords to tight to vibrate with sound from pure agony. Dean rushed forward towards you as your mind watched in slow motion. His body encasing you within his arms, your body convulsing with shock waves of sobs. You couldn’t hear the words he was murmuring in your ears all you could feel was absolute loss, a darkness ripping through your soul like a rusty serrated knife, taking away your humanity and leaving you numb.
Sam wouldn’t touch you, his eyes red and his mouth poised to speak but he couldn’t find words. His desperation almost comforting as your chest cavity seemed to cave in, splintering through your lungs and stemming your ability to breathe. You didn’t know what you wanted more, to run away and never look back, pretending this was all a nightmare or fall into the numbness and drown in the expanse of feelings to never recover. All you could feel now was the scarlet in the day, the raw feeling of freshly torn wounds through all to soft skin, over stretching and burning of misplaced joints, the searing heat of muscles to sore to move and the agony of complete brokenness. You opened your mouth to scream again and this time the sound escaped, it rattled through the cars like a sonic boom, it sounded like broken metal twisting and breaking in the middle of a crash combined with the howl of a hurricane.
Hard arms were on you, shaking your body as the sound continued to rip through your throat. “Wake up dammit!” Dean shouted as his hands became painful on your arms. Opening your eyes your body convulsed out of the dream as if you had just fallen off a ten story building. A cold swear covered your face as your hands shook with the memory of what you had seen. “What the hell y/n?” Dean demanded, his face stricken with fear.
“I never stops.” You choked out as your body begun to shake with sobs. “I can’t escape it, I can’t stop seeing it Dean.”
“Seeing what?” He asks, his mind reeling with possibilities all related to hunting.
“Realizing there is only two of you,”
Dean didn’t need any more explanation. He knew. He would always know.
His arms clutched around you, pulling your body from the impala that hummed you to sleep. He didn’t say another word, he didn’t let the darkness find him, he didn’t let himself break inside as he watched you break all over again. He walked you through echoing halls that you had never seen before. Sam ran to meet you both in what appeared to be an entry way, his voice finding you before his presence materialized. “What the heck happened? I heard screaming.” He asked concern colouring his features.
“Night terror,” Dean explained as he continued to carry you down a set of curved stairs. Sam stopped, held up short by the revelation, his face dropping and paling as he took in your broken form.
“I didn’t realise how hard this was hitting her.” He offered in explanation. “I thought she would have been prepared.”
“She isn’t us Sam, she has always been the heart of us and now she is broken.”
Slowly Dean took you into a room with a double bed, made with plain linen in a comfortable but sterile room. Setting you down he let you get comfortable on the bed, your knees coming to your chest as you hugged them close to you. “I’m so sorry y/n, I wish I could take this all away.”
“I don’t what to know what it’s like to live without him, Dean, I don’t want to know what it’s like in a world without him.” You spit out between sobs. You felt absolutely buried in brokenness, knee deep without a plea of escape. Stuck in a glass coffin of emotions keeping you hostage.
Dean’s eyes assessed you, the pain evident in them, but instead of plain grief there was a tinge of something else, a pain of loss but not for bobby, but for you. He knew those words were once uttered for him. He knew that years before, he had done this to you and now again by his hands, he had hurt you. The question now remained, can this ever be recovered or had everything been pushed to far that your frozen body would never feel the flame of anything again. Were you too deep in the night to ever see the day?
Dean fell to his knees beside the bed, his chest internally falling into a pit as his arms reached you knowing that everything bends until it breaks and now you were broken. “What can I do?” He asked, pleading for an answer. You wanted to respond, you wanted to tell him to hold you until your pieces could be glued back together again. You wanted to tell him to come back to you like he was before, bring back a semblance of the life you knew and loved. But there were no words, there was nothing.
“We can go catch the bastard that took him.” Sam answered as he swung his giant frame in through the door. “I found him.”

Part One - Part Two - Part Three
Your body pulsed with rage as you came toe to toe with Dean, your intent clear in your eyes. You pulled back your fist and nailed it straight into his firmly built chest. Without stopping your other fist flung into his chest, every hit trying to make him hurt.
He didn’t move, he didn’t flinch, he just stood there are took every blow to his body. It only made you angrier, this was the man who single handedly broke your heart and took your father away from you. You wanted him to hurt like you were hurting, you wanted him to feel the pain that was debilitating you from the inside out. Your fists continued their assault; every hit trying to make him move but nothing shook him. Your fists felt raw as you continued to beat his chest, every punch only hurting you in turn but your couldn’t stop, he had to hurt.
Sam was uncomfortable with the situation, he still didn’t know what happened between the two of you after he left for Stanford and no one had told him. Not being able to take your pummeling of his brother any longer he snaked his arms around your body to restrain you. “No!” You screamed as you kicked and twisted doing all that you could to get out of his arms. Dean moved for the first time, his hands like iron gripped onto Sammy and forcibly moved his arms open, dropping you back onto your feet.
“Don’t touch her.” He warned as you ran at him again. You fists resuming their barrage upon him.
You couldn’t help the tears that formed in your eyes as you continued to hit him, you knew your strength was depleting and your fists wouldn’t even hurt a fly at the moment but you couldn’t stop. Your body shook with sobs as your heart within you exploded, your mind not wanting to deal with the fact your worst nightmare had come true. Dean’s arms left from behind his back and slowly circled you, your fists still tried to hit him but your body fell into his, your face pressed to his firm chest as his arms held onto you.
He held your body so tightly to his own, your body shaking with uncontrollable sobs, you had lost everything, in an instant and there was nothing you could do to fix anything. You felt absolutely hopeless, your body wanting to cave in on itself. You felt your tears soaking into Dean’s suit but you didn’t care, his arms continued to hold you to him as he leant his head on yours. He didn’t say anything, his hands speaking for him as your feeble body continued to weaken in his grasp.
Your lungs yearned for air but you couldn’t swallow enough to subdue them, your own body fighting itself as your couldn’t catch your breath. Dean moved one hand from your back to your cheek, holding your head to his body as he continued to calm you down, his chest began vibrating with his smooth humming, the same tunes he used to sing you off to sleep with. You rose your fist one last time to hit him but the movement fell as your body continued to break, the battering from the last few days catching up with you. The silence you had forced your emotions into was over and now they were screaming louder than banshees, the noise of your mind deafening you completely. You body felt weighed down, wanting to sink itself into the very ground your fathers empty coffin was sitting in. The only thing keeping you above the surface was the fact you were within Dean’s arms.
He felt your body beginning to go slack and he picked you up with ease and carried your bridal style. Your head never leaving his chest, hiding yourself from the world you didn’t feel like you belonged in anymore. He cradled you in his arms in the back seat of his Dad’s old Chevy Impala, his hands beginning to slow trace over your skin. He didn’t expect you to talk; he just continued to hold you, his lips at times brushing over your hair. You cuddled into him, as much as you wished you didn’t, you couldn’t stop yourself. You couldn’t deny your heart as it longed for him, the last part of your old life dreaming of reunion. You mind ran wild with memories, your father’s face imprinted on your brain; but as you forced yourself to remember more the face began to fade. You tried harder to see the man you loved and called father but the image became distorted, the memories fading in the chaos of your mind. Your heart raced in fear that you wouldn’t remember him, that your mind had erased him without permission.
“I can’t remember what he looks like.” You choked out into Dean’s shirt, your body shaking with fresh sobs.
“He’s 6’ 2”, his hair was a honey colored brown slowly fading with age, his face was ovular with a bushy beard covering his jaw and above his lip, his eyes were brown but in certain lights looked blue, his eyebrows were wayward not matter how many times your tried to fix them. He was always wearing his old trucker hat covering most of his hair, the brim of the cap having just a few rips with wear. He always smelt like motor oil and gasoline, his fingers always caked in black dirt from the cars. His arms were strong and his shoulders broad. His voice was low and friendly, always soft and kind to you as he spoke to you about cars and stories of the past. He loved you with everything that he was and would have done anything for you.” Dean finished, his words painting the image of your father in your mind. His description grounding you and returning you back to earth. Slowly your tears stopped falling, probably from lack of water but Dean’s arms didn’t move.
His hands continued to remain wrapped around you as Sam drove the car to the clearing where you would have to say your final goodbye. You couldn’t help the fear that began to wrap itself around your spine, it’s cold tendrils sending shivers over your body. You felt your stomach twist and tense, the pain almost pleasurable as it made your body curl in on itself. Dean felt your movements and his arms squeezed you closer, his arms felt like they were the only things holding your body together. He grabbed a blanket from somewhere in the car and wrapped it around you, you didn’t even feel the cold but as he draped it over you, your body sighed with relief, aching muscles beginning to finally relax. “There you go.” Dean commented as his fingers continued to trace soft circles in your back.
Opening your eyes for what felt like the first time during the journey you looked up at Dean, his grassy eyes looking at you filled with comfort and regret. You knew by the twist of his lips that his mind was racing with a million thoughts, probably trailing back through your memories like yours had done. His looked changed to complete apology as his eyes registered your own, his body pulling your closer for a moment, a thousand words being exchanged through his touch. You appreciated his comfort, you reveled being within his arms again; if you held your breath, for a moment you were eighteen again hiding in your corvette with Dean; cuddling as the sun rose, causing the river to dance with the reflecting light of the star. But that moment ended and you were reminded of how it looked to watch him leave and you knew that he soon would leave again. Everyone in the hunter’s lifestyle left, it was only a matter of time.
Sam pulled the car up, his eyes looking back to assess me; full of sympathy and sadness he did know how to begin to comfort you. He got out of the car and opened it for Dean, who didn’t release you from his hold, carrying you out of the car he walked you over to the pyre where he let you find your feet. Your eyes with trepidation moved to the covered body of your father. The oxygen was forced out of your lungs, a hot knife ripped open your middle and you couldn’t stop your body from falling to its knees. Dean caught you before you could touch the ground but your body was weak and you mind sung with the words that you couldn’t do this. It felt wrong, it was like you stepped into a movie set and someone was doing a terrible job of portraying your life.
Sam and Dean had built the pyre before the day had even begun, they felt it was their duty to prepare the hunters funeral for him. His body was already salted ensuring he wouldn’t come back; that idle thought banged around your brain that you wouldn’t hate him coming back. There would be a time he would turn and his spirit would degrade but for a few moments you could talk to him again, tell him how much you love him and pretend that this day have never happened. Sam waited silently as Dean brought you to stand closer, allowing you to light the flame that would take your father away forever. Letting go of Dean for a moment you looked at the body of your father, wishing you he would just wake up and tell you this was all one horrific prank but his body was unnervingly still. “I love you Daddy.” The words slipped out of your mouth, as tears began to flow down your face again, your hands shaking as the flame dared to burn you. Reaching out your hand you released the flame, the licks of fire quickly spearing covering the body of the man you loved most.
Dean was by your side, his arm curling around you waist as he provided you the physical support you needed, keeping you from falling down both emotional and physically. The boys faces remained stoic, not allowing a single emotion to crack through their marble faces. They had done this to many times before, only six months ago they were doing this for their own father. As the flames rose towards the sky your body cascaded with waves of grief, subsiding only when the numbness of everything fell over you like a coating of caramel. You moved out of Dean’s arms, you didn’t want to watch your father become ash, you had done all that you needed to do, you had watched his funeral twice now and every moment you remained only pulled your soul further down.
Dean followed behind you, his arm reaching out to still you. “Can I drive you to Jodie’s?” He asked his voice for the first time lacking the confidence you knew so well.
“I’m just going to walk back to the house.” You responded, your voice monotone and empty.
“Y/n, please, let me take you home.”
“Dean, I don’t have a home. You took that away from me the moment you made him walk out that door with you.” You accused, your words coming out cracked and broken. “You and your brother have done enough.” The words were full of the intent to hurt but they came out defeated. “You couldn’t just leave us alone, you broke my heart and to just add salt to my wounds you took away the only family I had left. And now, you think you owe me something? Dean if you want to do something for me, walk out of my life and never come back. It shouldn’t be an issue for you seeing your well practiced in that area.” You turned and walked away, your legs aching with every step you took, the journey ahead seeming impossible. But you needed the time on your own, you just needed to get away. You heard Dean’s footsteps running after you as you turned the corner of woods heading towards the empty house.
“Wait, you never let me finish.” Dean began.
“Dean you are finished, I don’t want to hear anything more from you. I’m done, okay? I don’t want to hear it anymore, no more excuses, no more reasons. There is nothing more you can say to me.”
“Will you just listen!” He argued back, his tone finally reacting with emotion.
“Why!”
“Because I am here for you!”
“No Dean, when will you get it, you’re not. You made that decision for me. I fought so hard for you and you didn’t care. So I fixed myself, on my own, and got my life back on track. Then the moment you come walking back in all you do is bring me problems and heartache so excuse me for wanting to stay a million miles away from you!”
“You think this is easy for me!? Bobby was like a father to me.”
“He was my father!”
“He did everything for me and I’ve lost him too.”
“No, you had a father and you burnt him months ago and because your life was so hellish you decided that my father needed to be burned too.”
“Hey, y/n, we are all going through stuff right now.” Sam butted in, coming up to flank his brother.
“Shut up Sammy.” Both you and Dean shouted in unison, he looked hurt by your dismissal but walked away not wanting to get into today. He was hurting and trying his best to keep a brave face. Your heart did go out to him, he was your best friend for such a long time, but he also walked out of your life and didn’t try to rebuild any bridges.
“I know I can’t say anything to fix what has happened. I blame myself for losing Bobby, I know if I was a better hunter he would have never been put in this position but I can’t take it back now.”
“No you can’t, so I am going to do the only rational thing I can and get away from you before I end up burned to ashes myself.”
“Y/n don’t walk away from me again, I was stupid.”
“Yeah Dean, you were, but I am not going to sit around and be a victim in this life anymore, I’m done watching the people I love fall by the wayside.”
“Please wait.”
“No Dean, I’ve done my waiting.” With that you left him, you walked away not listening to his calls after you not turning to look at him as much as you wanted to.
Everything within you was tearing itself apart, it was like a hellhound had crawled its way inside your body and was using your organs as chew toys. Every step you took felt like a journey towards death row, the road to your house wasn’t long but it was a journey that would take you more time than you mind could cope with. Most days your demons were silent but when they spoke, my god how they screamed. You wanted to open up your lungs and scream to the universe, to dare any god that was listening to smite you where you stood. You blood pumped through your veins haphazardly, your body fighting the will in your body to just roll over and die, the emotional pain was just too much.
The sun began to set as your footsteps crossed the line of the car yard, the rusty vehicles piled upon each other; a violent metal jungle that became frightfully tormenting with the lack of light. The house you grew up in stood before you, for the first time in forever without a single light on. It looked like a haunted building, it’s ominous presence stilling you where you stood. The dark exterior looked deathly black, the windows formed into jagged teeth hungry to swallow you whole, the normal noises of nature were silent, the only sound was your breath as it caught in your chest. “I can do this.” You spoke to yourself, willing your body to move towards your only sanctuary. Opening the door felt wrong, there wasn’t any sounds, no TV with the ball game on, no sounds of your father cooking in the kitchen, no welcome home baby to greet you. Falling to your knees at the threshold you allowed your broken sobs to fill the silence, this wasn’t life, this was hell.
Dragging yourself up stairs you crawled into your father’s room pulling on his old flannel shirt as you curled up on his bed. The smell of him still circling in the air, if you closed your eyes you could almost feel him near by; the dreams of him walking through the door the only thing bringing you sanity. Your body shook with cries as you body finally lost it’s strength and fell into a sleep filled with nightmares of the last moments of your father’s life. Waking up with terror every few hours only brought on more tears, you were in a vicious cycle of tormented sleep and your body was longing for rest.
Breaking the promise you had vowed to yourself you walked to the liquor cabinet, grabbing the first bottle your fingers touched you drank the contents within moments. You didn’t mind the burn down your throat, the sensation reminding you that you still could feel. The next bottle was easier, but you couldn’t finish it before your head began to spin, the world losing it’s balance as your body swayed with reckless abandon. Your eyes flashed to the door as it opened, a tall frame walking towards you before your eyes shut blackening the world around you.

Part One - Part Two
Your father was to have a hunter’s funeral but you needed to do the traditional funeral first. The town needed the closure as much as you did. You knew that pretty much everyone would be there, from your teachers at school, the police department, neighbors, clients, friends; pretty much every person that had interacted with us was going to be there. It was also outlined in his wishes that he was to have a funeral and money enough had been put aside. Most of it however was for the sake of dear Jody; dad’s girlfriend while aware of the life was still stuck between what everyone knew to be real and what was real. She sat beside me, as we drove towards Sioux Falls County Cemetery to bury an empty coffin. She didn’t know what to do, she had already lost so much and to lose more was something you didn’t think you’d be able to handle. You reached across to hold her hand but neither of you couldn’t find comfort in it; it was nothing like what it was like to be held within his arms.
Walking through the tomb stones it felt almost unreal, like in an instant you would suddenly wake up from and nightmare and you could run into your fathers arms, reminding yourself he was still there. But he wasn’t, you would never get to feel his touch again, hear his deep voice as it reminded you to clean your room, his grumpy tone when you began repairing cars better than him, you would never see the way he looked at you with such pride and you would never get to find yourself within his arms again. As you reached the burial ground your eyes searched the crowd of people there, there were so many faces, people you knew and didn’t know. Every eye was drawn to you with sympathy and you couldn’t help the bile that tried to make it’s way up your throat. All these people were around, watching for the moment you broke waiting to pick up the pieces. But it wouldn’t happen, you were an orphan and an adult, you had to do this alone no matter how unprepared you felt.
Taking your place you looked at the dark mahogany of the coffin, it looked so stupid sitting there covered in flowers to only be buried. There was no head stone yet but soon enough this small plot of land would be dedicated to your father and it felt so wrong. It still didn’t feel real, part of you felt like he was waiting at home, tinkering with another project while you were out of the house. But when you went home tonight the house would be silent, the lights would be off and the only sound would be your own breathing. The minister took his place, you almost laughed, you knew more about the reality of life and death than him yet here he stood proclaiming ultimatums and positive idioms. About halfway through his monotone speech your eyes flashed to two new figures joining the mourners. Dean’s crystal green eyes connecting with yours instantly, you hated your heart for the way it jumped, you were furious at him and you wished it was you who had given him his busted lip and caused his face to be held together with steri-strips. Sam was beside him, one eye blackened and a small cut on his cheekbone; you couldn’t react right now, not in front of everyone but as soon as you three were alone they were going to feel the full force of your disappointment.
Watching the coffin be lowered into the ground you didn’t know how to feel, this wasn’t your father, he was wrapped up on a pyre waiting for his true send off; but as the empty box continued to sink deeper and deeper into the ground the weight of everything started eclipsing your soul. It felt like two clawed fingers wound their way around your lungs, their talons piecing the fragile skin taking away the ability to breathe, squeezing the very last breath out of you in the process. A jiggered blade began plunging into your heart and it felt like molten lava was being poured into your stomach, you wanted to fall to your knees, the beat the very ground you walked on and scream at the sun for daring to raise on a day like today. Your fists curled in on themselves, your nails piercing your skin drawing blood to the surface, you looked at it amazed that you were still alive. The pain in your hand didn’t dull the burn that bubbled under your skin destroying you from the inside out. You couldn’t hear anything around you except the piercing ring that disorientated you completely, your eyes were beginning to blur and your heartbeat was trying to beat out of your chest.
You gasped for air when the calloused hand of Dean took hold of your own, his very touch grounding you were you stood, clearing the haze in your brain, the instant it left though you wanted it back. You wanted to hurt, you had just lost everything and the hurt made you feel real because when it was gone all that you had was this indignant emptiness that wasn’t exactly numb nor was it completely devoid. You pulled your hand out of his when your conscious caught up and wrapped your hands around yourself, he wasn’t going to stick around, he got you into this mess, the only person you had to hold onto was yourself. Your arms squeezed around you tightly, marking your skin where your fingers dug into your skin, clutching for something, anything to remind you of what it felt like to be found within his arms, the arms of your father. But nothing came close. When the coffin reached the bottom of the pit you were offered to place sand over the box but you shook your head, he wasn’t there, he was hidden in the woods and would soon be ashes.
The rest of the procession went on with a blur, people filed past you, their arms embracing you as your lips continued to say the tormenting words of “Thank you for coming.” People didn’t know what to say or how to deal with you, some tried to linger as a show of support but when they were met with your empty eyes many decided to be on their way. You almost laughed when you heard the throw away comment that “Y/n looks just as bad as she did when she lost her mum, remember how long that took her to recover?” You almost wanted to turn around and yell at them that it was the same monster that took them away from you and you’d be happy to make a deal for them to be the next victim. That was the thing no one tells you about grief, yes there were five stages but they didn’t come in order nor did they only hit once. Your mind was in a constant flux between denial, anger and just utter depression and you could never tell which mood would be next.
Soon the only people left staring at the hole in the ground were Jody, Sam and Dean. Jody was cautious around you; it was like she was walking on eggshells worried if she stepped wrong you would lose the plot completely.
“Do you want me to come with you?” She asked hoping not to overstep an imaginary line.
“You don’t need to see it Jodie, I’ll catch up with you tomorrow, go to the wake that the town has put on, you should be around normal people right now.” You answered, trying your best to keep it together, your voice sounded alien to you, so monotone and empty. Nodding she gave you a hug that for the first time in days you returned. As she left the boys stayed slightly off to the side, again like everyone else waiting for your cue to ensure they wouldn’t upset you more. Turning to them your anger began to bubble within you, steam rose through your body to your skull and escaped out your ears, if you had a thermostat attached to you, you knew it would have burst.
Storming you way to Dean you made sure your intent was clear, you wanted a fight and if he had any shred of dignity he would give it to you.

Part One - Part Two - Part Three - Part Four - Part Five
Minutes turned to hours as the car continued down the empty roads, your indignant silence torturing you as much as Dean. He always would fill the car with his classic rock but he didn’t dare touch the radio with you beside him. You did your best to project every bit of protest you had towards the situation but your stomach refused to keep up the pretense. Growling with hunger and threatening to throw up anything you thought about consuming left you in an awful dichotomy. A reflection really of how your brain and heart were at odds, an entity of conflict and contradictions, what a way to be. You knew you needed your wits about you, but you weren’t lying when you wished the monsters would come for you too.
The harsh reality of your life left you searching more than you’d ever admit. Losing your mum was a hot butter knife that ripped through everything, losing Dean and most of your heart in the process was a blunt serrated knife that continued to plunge into your soul ripping at everything you were and now losing dad, it was like nothing you’d ever felt before. No previous hurt, no measure of pain, no description would ever be enough. There was so much of you that just wanted to scream but every attempt would remain silent. Dean’s muscles continued to tense beside you; he wanted to talk, he wanted to ease your burden but he knew words could never be enough. So he continued to drive until he saw a small diner on the side of the road, empty enough that you would feel comfortable sitting for a while but not so empty it would be ominous.
“Do you still like cherry pie?” Dean asked, his eyes searching your face trying to scope a reaction, his voice cautious with worry. Your mind remembered the sweet taste of the cherries on your lips and how much you used to adore the warmth of pie, but since his favourite food was pie, you swore you’d never touch it again. It was like how a lot of you had changed since he left out, he liked the red mahogany of your hair so you dyed it black, he loved the skinny jeans and flannels that you now barely touch, he loved the way you’d sing as you worked and now you couldn’t remember the last time you hummed. You had thrown so much of yourself away in grief over him and now there was nothing left to do as your grieved for your dad. Dean didn’t know what to do, monsters he could handle, death he could cope with, but nothing prepared him for you.
He got out of the car, coming around to your side to help you out. It took half of you not to put your feet on either side of the door and refuse to get out and another half of you not to run at the first sign of freedom. You knew you wouldn’t get far but the scene alone would spark the attention of the patrons in the diner, which could get you home. Tossing up your odds took too long in your defeated mind that Dean already had his hand in yours guiding you from your seat.
You pulled it away the moment you realised but it was too late, the warmth was already soaking into your skin, the memories were already replaying over your mind. There was so many times when your hand had stayed in his, so many times he touched you with those well-worn fingers that set you aflame. Your body lurched with bile as the tormented words filtered through that since you pushed him away, those hands have probably trailed across countless women and while he was still the tormentor of your dreams, you didn’t even feature in his thoughts.
Following aside him, you entered the diner and your nose was filled with coffee and deep-fried chicken, again your stomach couldn’t decided what it wanted more. Leaving Dean you went to a small booth off to the side, wanting to hide the morose presence you brought with you into every room, while he spoke to the waitress about ordering some food. Your eyes felt like they were glazing over as your body resumed the normally numbness you had been feeling for the last week, you hated the dull ache that never seemed to fade but more so the numbing sensation that banned your from feeling anything at all. The sound of the door opening again didn’t faze you, but the dark shadow that passed over your vision broke you out of your stupor as Sam sat beside you.
“Don’t even think about it Sam,” You spoke without looking at him, knowing his mouth was poised open to speak.
Dean had broken your heart, but Sam, he broke your trust. Ever since you could remember Sam was in your life, he was your best friend, your confidant and your partner in crime. Every day of your entire schooling to spent together, the countless study groups and all night assignments; the endless conversations about college, life and what the future held. Dean was the man you loved but Sam was the man you trusted. You knew how much he just wanted to be normal, you wanted it to.
Because you were so close he knew all of your darkest and deepest thoughts for your entire life and you thought you knew his, but then he decided to go AWOL, Stanford for Christ’s sake and never even told you. The way he broke his family up over his selfishness didn’t seem like the boy you knew but what hurt more was that he never once told you. You knew he wanted to study away from home but you never imagined he would cut ties to do it. Dad would have stepped up and help John and Dean with the hunting in his absence. But he left, without warning, or even a goodbye. He never thought to contact you; the friendship you had forged for 19 years to him was obviously meaningless. The first time you had seen him in years was when he came to your doorstep with Dean needing Dads help.
Sam had also put a very clear roadblock into your life. Although you had planned to study close to home to keep close to Dean and your dad, you had both secretly applied for Stanford and when you received your acceptance and scholarship a few days after Sam’s you didn’t know what hurt more, losing Dean or losing your dream of studying anthropology at one of the worlds best schools. You couldn’t leave now and go to Stanford, you couldn’t be near Sam, he reminded your too much of Dean. These boys who so easily came into your life were the same boys whose fingers couldn’t stop meddling with it; Winchesters, the worlds greatest heartbreakers. So you settled for the local college and worked your ass off, it was easier to distract yourself than deal with it all. Other schools came calling, more opportunities kept coming along, but you denied all of them. You sealed your own fate, for as long as Dad lived in Sioux Falls, so did you. It wasn’t so bad, working with Jodie made up for it and with all the training she was giving you, you were sure you’d end up on the force eventually. But now you had no choice, college was hundreds of miles away, Jodie was unaware you had even left, your old life of distraction was forced away from you and now you had to face them, all of the dark monsters of your mind had been realised and there was no going back.
Sam unable to stand the silence addressed Dean, “So what’s the plan?”
“Eat and then drive to the roadhouse.” Dean replied his hands bringing a steaming coffee cup to his lips, you didn’t remember Dean ever drinking coffee only alcohol but what you definitely did remember was the roadhouse. Ellen Harvelle was a good friend of your fathers and Jo her daughter was a few years younger than you, summers for years were spent playing around the old pool tables while the adults discussed hunting logistics. You were a pack of four, inseparable during those times, but after Sam left for Stanford, Dean left and went and found Jo. So much about waiting for you to be 18, he was over her like a rash within weeks.
Pushing up from the booth and hoisting yourself over the back of it you spat out, “I think I’ll pass.” Dean was on you in a second, his arm clasped around yours holding you in place.
“Don’t make a scene please,” He asked, his eyes pleading as Sam looked cautiously around the diner to see if anyone had noticed your attempted escape.
“A scene?” You asked incredulous, “A scene!” You yelled within a whisper, “Winchester, I’ll give you an entire Broadway show.” You threatened through clenched teeth.
“Sam, can you get this all to go?” Dean asked as he left his seat to politely drag you back to the car, you drug your heels in but nothing in you could stop the strength of Dean.
“What’s her problem?” Sam muttered under his breath, but that was it, your emotions spilled over again, the anger that had held itself back from years over these boys exploded within you like Vesuvius. You swung your body around, your fist ready to connect with Sam’s face with every bit of force you had, but no matter how quickly adrenaline and anger made you, Dean was faster. In his experience he knew how to contain your intended assault in such away not a single member of the public would notice the scuffle. “Let me go.” You commanded in words only he could hear. His lips went to your ear, a movement your body knew all to well how to respond to.
“I can’t do that,” He drawled, his lips brushing against the side of your face in the way he knew you loved.
“Always protecting your baby brother aren’t you.” You replied, flexing your body around his to place your lips by his neck, his only known weakness. To outsiders, this would have looked like you were tangled in a passionate love affair, but you knew the truth, this was a tiger taking on a jaguar.
“I’m protecting you. Now move your ass out of here before I have to move it myself.” You opened your mouth to protest, “Nuh uh, I’ve already hauled your ass over my shoulder and I’ll do it again.” Knowing his threat was more than genuine you allowed yourself to be pulled from the diner.
“So help me Winchester, the moment we have driven outside of city limits you’re going to wish you left me back at home.” You declared as you slammed your door shut so hard the glass rattled. Dean almost fainted, his beautiful Impala was more than his baby, he normally killed anyone who touched it. But for once to his credit he didn’t react and instead took the food off Sam and joined you in the car.
“You’re taking me to go see Jo effing Harvelle! Are you crazy?” You shouted the moment the car left the diner.
“What? You used to be friends?” Dean asked bewildered.
“That was before you decided to stick your tongue down her throat and don’t even get me started on what you stuck up her!”
“Who tell hell told you that?!” Dean responded, his tone for the first time meeting yours, horror in his eyes.
“Why do you think dad didn’t want to see you, why do you think I told you to stay away from me when you came groveling back? I know what you did. Or should I say who you did. You’re reputation precedes you Dean.”
He licked his lips, his mind trying to find any words to placate me, “Y/n I would never do that to you!” He defended, but still he never denied my accusations. Dean was an amazing lover but an even better liar, except when it can to you. Now that you had actually told him and the words were out they begun hurting you again. Your heart began to talk before you lips could halt the words,“Oh that’s rich, first you practically groom me to suit your fancies, finally get your jollies off and then off you go bed hopping around the continental US, starting with my best friend. The only thing that could make it worst is if you and Sam went all game of thrones.”
“You would believe another person over me?”
“Haven’t you noticed you haven’t once denied anything Winchester. The jury’s returned and they find you guilty on all counts, you’re done, we are done. Let me out of this car. I am not going anywhere near Harvelle right now.”
“Fine, I will take you somewhere else.” Dean responded, chewing out the words. “At least eat your food.” He finished, tossing the brown paper bag into your lap. Opening it you could see your favourite food waiting for you, he still remembered exactly what you used to eat. “I’m suddenly not hungry.” You replied as you pushed the bag aside and rested your head on your hand by the window, hoping the wind would wipe your tears away for Dean saw them.
Your whole body ached, your muscles moved with trepidation and you dragged yourself towards safety; you didn’t think this life would be as difficult as this. Dean was right beside you, equally as battered and bruised, his eyes looked to you as a soft smile touched his lips. “Just one more day and it’ll be all over.” He murmured pulling you into a hug, his sturdy arms reminding you it would all be worth it in the end.
“But Dean, the people! How can we cope with this again?”
“We are just going to have to, we need to make sure they have the opportunity to experience what we could not.” He whispered, his thumb hooking over his shoulder towards the room behind him. You nodded, in the end it would all be worth it, it had to be.
Dragging yourselves into your bedroom in the bunker, you both fell into bed sleeping already.
Today had been chaotic, everything was happening all at once, people were rushing everywhere and you thought for a second you had lost Dean. Sam had run away screaming as soon as we suggested the plan, instead he planted himself in front of the computer and promised to send help if it became too dangerous. You understood why he chose to keep himself out of the fray, you had never felt more tired or sore in your life, your ears still rung and your heart still rushed with adrenaline. You closed your eyes, happy for a moment of silence until your thoughts started to bombard you.
Had you remembered everything? Was everything where it was supposed to be? Was everything hidden? Had you done enough?
Tossing and turning you could barely sleep but as the clock rolled over to four a.m. your body finally won out and you fell asleep within Dean’s arms, his quiet snores giving you comfort. You dreams were filled with children running around filled with insanity, screaming at the top of their lungs; possessed with energy that couldn’t be surpassed. It was a nightmare which you knew would soon become reality.
Sunrise slowly broke through the seldom window in the room, your eyes didn’t want to open but your ears picked up the thudding of bare feet running on tiled floor. You room door burst open and two children leapt off the floor and landed square on the bed.
“Mummy! Daddy! WAKE UP! It’s CHRISTMAS!!!!!” Proclaimed little Sarah, her perfect little curls bouncing with her, she crawled into Dean’s arms, her eyes matching his perfectly. Dean’s face was bright with happiness, christmas day was better than every birthday put together.
But knowing how tired you were from the mad shop you both did yesterday he tried to quieten the kids. “Darlings, don’t you think it’s a little too early? Don’t you want to sleep in? It is the holidays!”
“It’s never too early for presents!” Jacob stated, his hair sticking out in all directions. Sarah was definitely Dean’s daughter but Jacob took after you more than your were happy to admit. You couldn’t believe how blessed you were to have such a perfect little family.
“Alrighty, I guess we better go see what Santa brought you two cheeky monkey’s.” Dean commented, his perfect smile breaking out over his face as Sarah grabbed a santa hat and placed it on his head. Picking her up in his arms he offered a hand to Jacob and walked them outside to the perfectly decorated tree. The base of it filled to capacity with every gift on their wish lists and more; you wanted to join them but the warmth of the bed called to you like a perfect lullaby and before you knew any better you had fallen back to sleep.
A soft nudging tired to bring you back to reality, “No, five more minutes, please!” You begged.
“You need to wake up because I can’t do this without you. Please baby, they are opening up one gift now before breakfast but I can’t hold them back forever. Sarah has picked up Sam’s puppy dog eyes and not even I can resist them.” Dean brought his lips to your shoulder, kissing you softly before trailing more kisses across your collar bone to your neck and up to your cheek before ending on your lips.
“Not that I am not loving this.” You commented between kisses. “But at this rate, we aren’t going to be out there anytime soon and our beautiful kids will get another sibling.” Dean laughed and slowly pulled away, his hands in yours bringing you too your feet.
“I don’t mind the idea of another little one running around.” Dean stated as you walked through the halls of the bunker hand in hand until reaching the sparse library that was filled to the brim with christmas decorations. All the mad shopping yesterday while driving you crazy was all worth it. Seeing your beautiful little children rip into their presents, their faces glowing with joy made it all worth it. Dean sat down with them as you watched from the door way; his face shining with as much glee as theirs. As soon as Jacob brought out the football him and Dean were up throwing it around the room, laughing and playing like a scene from a hallmark movie. Sarah had just unwrapped her new dolly, walking to her you scooped her up in your arms and sat with her on the closest couch.
“Mummy, this is the best christmas ever!” She commented squeezing the toy with enough force to crush a small diamond. You couldn’t help but agree, the sight of Dean tackling your little boy playfully was him at his most attractive. Allowing yourself to picture another little Dean running around the room only made your heart dance. You couldn’t help the smile on your face and when Dean’s eyes met yours his answering smile was the most beautiful thing you had seen in the world. He was the greatest father you knew and christmas was fast becoming your favourite holiday of the year.
Slamming the door to the impala you stormed up into the bunker, Dean hot on your heels. You were so unbelievably angry, Dean was being absolutely irrational and there was no way you were going to put up with it! Trying to plan a simple date was like pulling teeth, he was in and out all the time. I get it, he is reducing the world left right and centre but he wouldn’t let you help. You were left in the bunker to research and pick up the phone whenever you were called and you were over it.
Dean stormed into your bedroom where you were throwing clothes in a bag.
“How dare you slam baby’s door!”
“You know what, if you didn’t care more about that car than me a completely other type of slamming would have happened tonight. But wait, oh that’s right, you couldn’t make up your mind or find the time.”
“Come on babe, don’t be like that, you know what this life is like.”
“Yeah I do, but I wasn’t expecting to be stuck getting cabin, no BUNKER fever.”
“Well what do you want then y/n?!”
“For you to make up your mind, you’re so hot and cold, first it’s yeah let’s be in a relationship we can make it work, next it’s no it’s too dangerous you need to get away from me, then you decided you’re out of the game and then another major event happens and you’re back in. You change faster that traffic lights. You’re giving me whiplash.”
“Oh that’s rich coming from you! You can’t even decide what meal you want to eat! Let alone what kind of life you want, you want to be a professional one minute and then a stay at home hunter the next! Like holy flip, I picked a career why can’t you!”
“You can never decide what you want to do with your family, you’re always trying to juggle everything and someone always gets hurt. You can never plan a flipping date with me, never able to decide whether we should do dinner or a movie or some kind of adventure. And then when we finally get out to the theatre you can never pick a movie!”
“You never know what to wear in the morning!”
“You can’t decide between a car and the girl you love!”
“Remember our first date? You took fifteen minutes to pick a fucking drink flavour!”
“It took you ten minutes to decide on whether we were going to Starbucks or Tim Hortons!”
“You’re never sure about anything!”
“Maybe you’re right, because right now I’m not sure about us!”
You stormed out of the room, you couldn’t stand arguing with Dean, you were both as stubborn as each other. You could hear objecting smashing in the background.
Heading towards the garage you were going to find some kind of vehicle to go for a drive. Slamming the door against the wall as you walked in you heard Dean’s footsteps rushing to follow you.
“WHAT!?” You shouted turning around to face him.
“You’re right, I was never sure about anything, never.”
“Good work sherlock!”
“Oh let me finish! I was never sure about anything, never. But I was so fucking sure about you!”
With that Dean didn’t wait another moment before pulling you into his arms, your lips meeting in an angry kiss that evaporated passion.
“You are so annoying!” You spoke with a smile pulling at your lips, every word allowing your lips to touch his.
“You are so hot when you are angry.” Dean responded, resting his forehead on yours.
“Wanna go have make up sex?” You ask a glint forming in Dean’s eyes.
Dean didn’t respond, instead he threw you over his shoulder and ran into your bedroom at a pace not normally known to humanity.
