Frodo's little Erebor outfit! he's all ready for adventure!
The boat scene but make it bagginshield.
Bilbo is going home. Everyone survived. There is nothing else for him to do (lies but shhhh), and Gandalf insist they depart before the snow settles.
So the Company gathers in the gates to say their goodbyes. Bilbo makes his speech about how they are welcome to stop by for tea, don't bother knocking, and turn around, ready to go.
Before he can take as much as five steps, someone screams, "Wait!"
He turns back, and the wall of dwarves open to reveal a still battered, limping, not fully healed Thorin, carrying Orcrist and a small bag of supplies, leaning into a cane, making his way towards Bilbo.
Bilbo is so shocked that he is out of bed that all he can muster is "What are you doing???"
Thorin: What are you doing? (As of that is the real question).
Bilbo: I'm going home.
Thorin: precisely. And I'm coming with you.
my best friend asked me id be thorin or bilbo because naturally we were talking about bagginsheild.
my knee jerk reaction was bilbo because i as well love my armchair and books but my final answer was thorin because the only reason this was a topic of convo was because im as obsessed with the hobbit as thorin was l with the arkenstone
Bagginsheild/dwarf-hobbit culture headcannon;
Dwarfs have many types of pet names in Khuzdul
Ex- Amrâlimê: my love, Laslel: rose of all roses
But they have a striking amount that specificly revolve around valuables and precious metals
Ex- Zirizkhîe: My gold one, Bunnel/Ghivashel: treasure of all treasures, Kidhuzel: gold of gold, Mesmel: jewel of all jewles
This is because of the nature of dwarvish courting, they're courtship gifts most often being finely crafted jewelery, swords, armor, ect. So there's a deep cultural association between lovers and valuables.
Hobbits, however, court with food. Pies, pastries, biscuits, warm breakfasts, and hardy dinners. I like to think they're pet names change accordingly.
Thorin (in deep rumbling Khuzdul): my love, my precious jewel, purest of all metals, gold of the deepest mines...
Bilbo: yes lemon danish? :) what's the bother strawberry scone?
sigh i got too lazy to color... BAGGINSHIELDDD
Why does it look like Thorin is bending him over the table in the short picture book version of the hobbit 😭😭
Was thinking of The Hobbit but swap– oh no, so sad Bilbo is the one who dies... but wait can we take it further? Bilbo is the king–
But for some reason my brain couldn't come up with a king Bilbo AU and instead thought of–
A company of Dwarfs are hired to take Bilbo's silver spoons back from his lovely cousin Lobelia.
