I feel like you lose a lot of nuance about who Snotlout is as a character by watering down his relationship with Spitelout to "Snotlout and his physically abusive father who hates him"

Like. Snotlout is who he is because he has a weird fucked up relationship with his emotionally manipulative and unavailable father. Snotlout is insecure because Spitelout is insecure

I am of the belief that Spitelout isn't physically abusive, nor hates his son, but I feel like a large part of this fandom doesn't want to have that conversation 😭💀

level 0: what is a "psychological" "disorder" dont you just mean [slur]

level 3: the DSM is the word of god and speaks nothing but facts and truths and contains immutable descriptions of the fabrics of reality

level 20: categorization labels are such an oversimplification and result in over-identification and other problems to the point of being useless and maybe even actively harmful; therefore it should be shed entirely. you just are the way you are and it has too much complexity to be sorted into a box

level 10000: categorization labels are extremely flawed and unhelpful professionally/scientifically but can be very helpful personally especially in earlier stages of recovery (and earlier stages of identity development) because it can facilitate self-understanding, self-acceptance, and community building that would be much more difficult without a convenient social/identity label to use as a basic foundation while you sort out the rest. but also you are the way you are and it has too much complexity to be sorted into a box
