i was thinking abt those schlonnor things i drew a awhile ago with the lipstick incident and stuff and i wanna talk about them now. ok

see i don’t think im a full blown smplive schlonnor shipper like to me they are something so unexplainable they cant just be romantic or platonic or anything like that. they’re on another plane of existence to me. But they’re also weird and do want each other carnally

like let me retell what the lipstick incident was for people who have no idea what im referring to. at another typical smplive party, connor passes out on a couch (wasted). as he’s passed out on the couch, somebody just Cakes his face in red lipstick. schlatt (also wasted) finds him like this and immediately is obsessed with it. he’s going around laughing his ass off like Oh my fucking god Lipstick Conar or something and when connor wakes up (still wasted) he finds out what the deal is. immediately he’s trying to do what he does everytime schlatt is making fun of him; diffusing. he’s like noooo stopppp this isnt funny im not having fun but obv none of that’s working, so connor thinks fast of a full proof plan. a plan that will 1. shut schlatt up 2. put him in the same boat as connor and 3. get rid of that feeling of wanting to kiss your friends so badly when you’re extremely inebriated. so that’s what he does. they black out right after

now that’s out of the way. i don’t think they normally like each other like that because they’re just rly odd and weird. but there have been multiple instances of similar events happening at parties after that. it becomes like a rare rng event at big smplive parties. they got lunchclub betting on if it’s gonna happen tonight or next month’s big rager. it’s also a telltale for everyone to be like OHHH SHITTT WE’RE RLY IN IT NOW like it’s a level up for the party

do they ever actually address it Eh Maybe but it’s just gonna be like them being like alright well. just guys being dudes i guess and they have to train themselves subconsciously to not get white girl wasted and make out with each other

I just don’t have it in me to be excited for the new dragon age, guys. Did we all forget about bioware laying off a shit ton of people (many of them VETERAN devs and writers) and then making sad eyes and saying they couldn’t pay the contractually agreed upon severance because that would hurt the budget of dreadwolf/veilguard? Did we forget about that pageant of disrespect and corporate greed????

I told myself I wasn’t gonna do this, but here we are. Some Thoughts about fandom reaction to last night’s episode of Critical Role, spoilers below.

Why, why why is everyone harping so hard on Vax and Keyleth’s reaction to Vex and Percy eloping???

Keyleth, at this point, is an emotional wreck. She’s coming to grips with the fact that she’s going to be losing Vax a lot sooner than we thought; let’s not forget that since she’s completed her AraMente she’ll live upwards of 1000 years, and has already struggled with the fact that she’ll outlive all of her loved ones. But now her little time with Vax has grown even shorter. She lost him this hugely traumatic event, got him back under sketchy circumstances, and now, before she’s really had time to breathe (let alone recover) it seems like everything in her life is saying “hey, don’t forget, you’re going to lose the person you love and there’s nothing you can do about it”.

And then her best friends got married in secret.

So now, not only is her life saying “hey the man you love is gonna die forever very soon”, but she just got a shot of “that happy future you knew you were only going to get a sliver of but now will never have? Your friends get to live out the rest of their lives with that.” And Keyleth is hurting, and she is angry. We’ve seen her anger issues before, with Raishan, we know how incandescent her rage is. But now, there is no Raishan. There’s nowhere vaguely constructive for her to vent her anger. She doesn’t know what to do with these feelings, so she just lashes out.

Is it inappropriate? Yes. Is it unhealthy? Yeah, probably. Can I blame her? Fuck. No. Inside, I’d bet that she’s a ball of anger and self loathing. She knows she should be happy for Percy and Vex, feels bad that she isn’t, begrudges them their happiness because of her own suffering, and hates herself even more for that.

And Vax! Vax might be chill with his fate, but you know what he might not be chill with? His sister, the person he described as being his heart, the other half of him, running off and getting married without saying a word to him. To be excluded from something like that hurts. In ordinary life, excluding a family member from your wedding is a deep cut, but for the twins? For people who are as close as they are, who share everything and have only just begun to learn how to live without each other, that’s...it’s hard to describe what a wound that must be. I don’t think he’s necessarily envious of Percy and Vex getting what he’ll never have, I think he’s hurt that his twin sister didn’t want him at her wedding. Let’s remember that this is the man who said “I want you to have a little more happiness”, to encourage his sister to pursue this relationship. So he’s gone silent because he doesn’t want to step on their feelings, but he’s not about to lie that he’s okay. He dies in a year (or less, depending), and he won’t even get to walk his sister down the aisle.

Fandom praises CR for having dynamic, complex relationships, then crucifies them for having unpleasant reactions to things. Let’s not forget all the shit Scanlan said to everyone when he was in a bad place. People hurt, and hurt each other, but they forgive, heal, and grow. If everything went smoothly this show wouldn’t be interesting.

Being mean, venting, pls I beg just keep scrolling

I’m convinced people are just looking for a quick dunk on the Odyssey bc it’s en vogue bc how do you read Emily Wilson’s review and think “this is a person whose opinions about film I respect” like. She’s a brilliant classicist and excellent translator but I don’t know if she was even paying attention. For example, she refers to the pin Penelope gives Odysseus as a doll, despite it being referred to as a *pin* that Odysseus *wears* multiple times.

As I’m sure appeals to the piss on the poor site, she’s pretty demonstrably not good at watching movies and considering what a director might be trying to say. And god help her, because Nolan is not a subtle man. Her failing to understand that the “sea peoples” were actually the returning Greeks -and the collapse they were bringing was caused by the destruction they had wrought in Troy and the damage done to the social fabric-is galling on a personal level. Laura Robinson wrote a well-constructed thread on her failing to engage with the movie as a whole piece, and I’d post it if I thought anyone else on here actually saw the movie.

Also her comments about the POC cast members’ performances are. Uh. Not great. So on the one hand I would not be surprised for that to go unnoticed by tumblr at large and on the other I would be equally unsurprised to learn no one actually read her review.

This is also more of a personal gripe, but her tone of “I am the only one who truly understands the Odyssey and anyone who diverts from my interpretation is wrong” really sucks

I don’t know. I have a lot of complaints about Nolan’s Odyssey! But this review is so bad it makes me mad!
