Central leadership to decided on action of Selangor PAS duo

KUALA LUMPUR Aug 15, 2014:

PAS Selangor has submitted its report and complaints lodged against Hulu Kelang assemblyman Saari Sungib and Morib assemblyman Hasnul Baharudin to its central committee for further disciplinary action.

In a statement, PAS Selangor secretary Mohd Khairuddin Othman said the decision was reached following a meeting between the party’s state arm, including 13 PAS assemblymen and PAS’ leadership, today.

“We just met PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali and presented our case against the duo.

“Now it is up to the central leadership to decide on the disciplinary action.”

Mohd Khairuddin said the report was made following the failure of both PAS assemblymen to withdraw their individual support for PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

“We had ordered the party leadership within Selangor to meet and give a chance to the both Saari and Hasnul yesterday, but it failed to materialise,” he added without further explanation.

Yesterday, Selangor PAS gave both its assemblymen 24 hours to retract their support for the PKR president as the next state Menteri Besar or face the consequences of their actions.

This after the duo had publicly expressed support for Wan Azizah to become Selangor Menteri Besar, effectively ruling out Khalid’s chances of securing majority support from elected representatives in the state.

With the support of the PAS representatives, Pakatan Rakyat now has 30 out of 56 assemblymen backing Wan Azizah.

Saari and Hasnul seemingly broke rank with the Islamist party who will decide on the matter this Sunday.

PAS has backed Abdul Khalid to retain his post, while DAP has supported the proposal mooted by PKR last month to have Wan Azizah become the next Selangor MB.
