Farewell to Sloppi Jo's Food Truck...hello new beginnings...
One of my best friends Jolene Mannina has made quite a name for herself in the last 8 months with her incredible food truck "Sloppi Jo's" which based around Hatch Chili's. The branding/marketing is genius not to mention her "Eat Me I'm Delicious" tag line inspires smiles on many a face...
She has accomplished more in these last 8 months than most restaurant owners do in 2 years...there is such a buzz around her food that became the most critically acclaimed and loved food truck in Las Vegas and quickly acquired a die hard following.
The food truck life is beyond anything I could ever rap my head around...its brutual...the hours are insane it is beyond labor intensive and give the extreme weather in Las Vegas its just something Jolene decided she didn't want to continue doing on four wheels. Hence the farewell party last night for the "big sexy yellow bus". I had to take a picture with it last night as I helped and supported her from day one...
Her last run was at her infamous "Saturday Night Truck Stop" event (which will continue every Saturday night), at Tommy Rockers. Its an incredible event. She will be running the event as producer/host to continue supporting the food truck community but now that her truck is SOLD she has her sights on maximizing the popularity of her brand to the fullest extent.
This woman is in every sense of the word an entrepreneur, I tip my hat to her...she is NOT afraid to get her hands dirty. She is loved and admired by many including some of the most influential chefs in Las Vegas. I want everyone to know about her genius and incredible food and it looks like Vegas locals will have the opportunity to do that sooner than later. I can't say exactly what her plans are as I am sworn to secrecy but I am beyond thrilled for her and no one deserves it more...she's the hardest workin woman in food show business.
I got off work at damn near 4am last night and raced over to join in on the end of the festivities @ Tommy Rockers...which actually is a pretty fun HUGE dive-ish bar with an amazing staff...s/o to BIG JIM the bartender...he gets a big kick out of my Corona with Grenadine requests!
Jolene and Big Jim
Peace out to the truck...but, this is just the beginning....Viva La Sloppi Jo's!
