Queer Fantasy starring an Egg
I don’t know how I got this idea but I doubt it’s something I dreamt up. Maybe I think about May Marigold a bit too much.
It hit me this morning.
One of those “chosen one” tropes.
See, there’s this kingdom that’s really big on prophecies. One day, they got one that says their realm is doomed unless some girl born sometime somewhere rises up and saves them from the big evil. Frantic, the palace rounds up every girl that fits the conditions and starts training them like crazy.
Years passed, and the blind wizard responsible for the prophecy thinks that the day has come to dump his burden on their potential savior. Basically, every girl stands a chance, because prophecies are vague. That’s how they work. But the wizard says they have to pick a leader. So, by the power vested in him, he mutters an incantation, and the magical swirly thing examines each girl in the room, but in the end it runs out into the stables and knocks a servant girl unconscious.
It turns out the servant girl doesn’t know she’s a girl. Her egg cracked too fast for her to put two and two together. But the kingdom’s fate can’t wait, and she’s way behind on lessons.
Can a klutz save the world? What dramas await the chosen heroes?
Oh wow, this sounds like a good YA. 😃
