Yo. Do you mind me asking a question about what made you decide to go vegan? I'm just curious cause one of my friends went vegan recently.

I hope you don’t mind if I answer this publicly.

I went vegan because prior to being vegan I was vegetarian for four years and I had a group of vegan friends and I was really into the animal rights movement and actually out doing activism for animal rights and really the only reason I hadn’t gone vegan sooner is because of my huge sweet tooth, but eventually the fact that I was being a bit hypocritical started to wear on me so I just went “fuck it” and stopped putting my selfish wants for cosmic brownies and chips ahoy cookies first.

It’s always been the animal rights/personal morals for me. Even when I went vegetarian 6 1/2 years ago, it was because I couldn’t handle the cognitive dissonance where I claimed to love animals and then would eat another animal for dinner. It just didn’t sit right with me and so I quit eating meat. There were other perks and even now my reasons have changed. I’m still about the animal rights, but it’s also about the environment and sustainability for me since raising livestock for meat is extremely unsustainable. We put far more into raising livestock food and water wise than we get out and that food and water could easily be used to feed starving people. In fact, there would definitely be a significantly less amount of starving people if the world (very unlikely, I know) abstained from raising livestock entirely. And Environmentally wise? Factory farming is the #1 cause of green house gas emissions and global warming.

Some people do it purely for health benefits, though. I have a friend who recently told me she was going to try to be vegan for at least a month for health reasons. She told me this last week and I’m not sure if she’s still sticking with it (she’s kind of a flake) but she’s an example of why someone who has no interest in animal rights/environmentalism would do so.

Hmmmm, well, there was this one time I think I got a cameo phantom-shift (I’m still trying to figure it out tbh).

It was this pair of huge wings, and I’ve only ever really had tiny stuff, like ears before, and nothing quite so, I dunno, “solid”? Like, “WALLS, THERE ARE WALLS THERE, THAT’S A TABLE, I’M IN THE MIDDLE OF A ROOM, PLEASE STOP” sort of “solid.” Maybe sensitive would be a better word.

Anyways, I completely flipped my shit because I was disoriented, confused, and had no idea what the fuck was going on (for reference, I was listening to some music while unloading the dishwasher in my kitchen; not doing anything even slightly kin-related). There was lots of screaming and running around, and then more screaming because TINY HALLWAYS, SO TINY, and then even more screaming, because canine =/= wings DOES THIS MEAN MY KINTYPE IS COMPLETELY OFF FROM WHAT I THOUGHT PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME.

Just, lots of panicked screaming, both internally and externally.

Anyways that’s probably one of the most amusing ‘kin-related experience I’ve ever had (in hindsight) and I hope you enjoy any and all mental images/pictures it brings to mind
