I went to the haunted Chicken House last night with my little brother and sister. Let me tell you...we was like👀! Our adrenaline was pumped as soon as we entered into the drive. I love scary stuff but I was debating on whether to go in or not. I think I had to pee like 5+ times before going in. Lol and on top of it all my brother almost pushed me down the hill, I got trapped for like 10 seconds and thought I was gonna die HAHA. Low and behold the end of the night I wanted to get a picture of myself. My sister nearly tripped me up trying to run away while they were chasing us. I was scared walking because I wasn't about to run. 🤣 What haunted houses have you been to and which was your favorite? I'm taking suggestions for my next one!! . . . . . . . . . . . #hauntedHouses #hauntedhouseprops #hauntedhouseseason #octoberfest #halloween #halloweencostumes #bloggerlifestyle #bloggersofinstagram #bloggerstribe #bloggerswanted #bloggervibes #bloggingcommunity #blogginggals #bloglovin #blogsociety #tomboy #ipreview via @preview.app (at Haunted Chicken House) https://www.instagram.com/p/B3z_u2YDO11/?igshid=1fzrj1qorsb1a
4 Badass Chicks of Horror
Horror movie fans spend an incredible amount of time aggrandizing their favorite bad guys and how terrifying they are. The heroes don’t tend to get nearly as much attention as the villains do, and we feel that’s just plain unfair.
We realize the monster is the star of the show, but when you have a heroine step out of the woodwork to leave a singular mark on the horror world, they deserve recognition.
Halloween
This is really more about the entire series than just the initial film. Jamie Lee Curtis has come back time and time again to reprise her role as sister of Michael Myers, and we can’t help but feel that she’s done an incredible job.
She may have even been one of the only good things about the remake that came along in recent years. She is competent, compassionate, but unyielding in her destruction of her brother. She knows he’s evil, and makes no bones about it.
I Spit On Your Grave
Some films blur the line between heroine and monster, and in the film “I Spit On Your Grave” we see an example of this. While she is clearly in the right for seeking revenge on her assailants.
Heather Mills treatment of her rapists is brutal enough to receive a round of applause from Jason Vorhees himself. The character represents justice incarnate and is unrelenting in her punishment of those who wronged her.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
As one of the most incredible films of its age its notable that the heroine stands out as well. A young woman in a deadly serious situation Sally Hardesty is the only one to survive the madness her and her friends found themselves in.
Her determination and quick thinking got her into that truck and on the road to safety at the end, and gave us that iconic image of Leatherface swinging his chainsaw around in the middle of the road. This is surely why the chainsaw became a staple of haunted house props that still scares the pants off us, and why Leatherface halloween masks are still popular today.
The Fourth and Fifth Nightmare On Elm Street
You gotta love Robert Eglund and his role as Freddy Krueger, a role that generated more halloween costumes than anyone but Jason Vorhees. We often forget Alice Johnson, however, the woman who killed Freddy not just once, but twice. Sure, the term ‘killed’ has a different meaning when applied to creatures like Freddy, but she never failed to be a complete bad-ass the whole time.
These four films had incredible bad guys, it’s true, but its really the heroine who should shine. In each of them it is the cunning and determination of our hero that makes the movie an incredible ride and has us cheering them during their victory, even if that victory is just an escape. One that wasn’t mentioned on this list and clearly deserves the crown is Ripley from the Alien series. She is clearly the horror movie heroine and will never be dethroned.
