i had been sharing his assumption that jesus would not have spoken greek, and setting aside the issues I had seen with his other arguments because it seemed like a very concrete thing with few degrees of interpretive freedom, turns out this was wrong
truly disastrous how much ehrman in particular has influenced the opinions of Default Liberals
(i mean still better him than the people who think the 3rd century gnostic gospels are the same sort of thing as the synoptics, but, like, in terms of well-respected historians because seem to mostly treat his opinions as standing in for all well-respected historians)
