While choosing dessert for the tea sandwich debacle I posted about earlier, I saw @jenisicecreams ice cream. The name alone was enough to garner this Jen's interest. A closer look revealed it was “red hot cinnamon ice cream with pieces of toffee and flakes of pastry”. . If you’re like me, you know the only worthwhile flavors of ice cream have of chocolate in them. A chocolate base, brownies, syrup, chips. Something. So even though this ice cream was obviously defective, I got it in the name of WTFs everywhere. . Naturally, we had to poison test it before our guest arrived. The red hot cinnamon base has a bite. Like you’ve just mixed crushed red hots with crushed ice and somehow managed to avoid turning it into a cocktail. I couldn’t distinguish the toffee and pastry very well, but I knew it was there cheering on the ice cream with quiet little “go teams” and thumb sized pompoms. . Turns out, Jeni's has a collection of unusual flavors like brambleberry crisp and chocolate curry and osmanthus blackberry crackle oh my. Two enthusiastic thumb sized thumbs up for this innovative company. I can imagine serving any of these creative flavors with vodka, whiskey, or rum in an adult milkshake on a hot summer morning after the in laws leave. Or right before they arrive, depending. . Find them all over the USA, including Charlotte, NC.
