can't sleep?
“shit!” he curses under his breath. stream of boiling water jolts, spilling over the side of the coffee mug as he startled. he hadn’t expected anyone else to be up — yet? or still? it was so late it teetered on early, sun threatening to peek over the horizon within the next hour. maybe less.
he’s been restless all night. the hours dragging on and on and on as he blinked up at the ceiling, waiting to be taken by an exhaustion that never came. by the time he was laying with his head where his feet should be, he knew his efforts were futile. guess it was time to start his day. maybe he could beat robin and steve to the station, take care of some of the mindless set up for them before mom’s even up to make breakfast.
“ — i mean… sorry.” he cringes to himself. smooth, wheeler. very smooth. a blush creeps up the back of his neck and he thanks god that it’s hard to discern much detail through the dim glow of the one bulb over the stove. “yeah, just… not tired, i guess. figured i might as well get moving. d’you want some? coffee? or — we have tea, too. i could make you some.” he doesn’t even wait for an affirmative, already reaching into a cabinet to pull out a second mug.
