Exploring the city outside his suite turned out to be a lot easier than Hide first expected. Despite a few wandering undead still around, he was more than capable enough to avoid them and take side streets instead. Some of the walls seemed to hum with magical energy, and he traced a hand along the bricks as he walked between the buildings.
His aimless wandering eventually led him to a small park, with wards positioned regularly around the border that put up a translucent barrier. Curious, he stepped through. The humming was audibly louder as he cam in contact with the magic, and goosebumps raised along his arms, but he was able to walk into the park unharmed. As he looked around, he noticed other residents with pets and children, as well as wildlife. Squirrels ran from excited dogs and birds chirped in the trees. Best of all was what Hide didn’t see. Not a single zombie was in the park, safely held out by the barrier.
Hide also noticed one dog in particular, who stood out by being quite a bit larger than any dog he’d ever seen before, as well as by running directly towards him.
“Oh-” he began, but didn’t get a chance to finish his statement before the hound pounced, knocking Hide onto the dirt and covering his face with messy dog kisses.
