20: Any of the Above. [Lets go for something cute, shall we?]
When Fae returned home that evening, it was to a bustling front room. Her mother was busy at the fire, stirring a pot of some casserole featuring the rabbit she had caught in the early hours of that morning. Carver immediately strode past her from behind, already tugging off his plates as he entered another room, to the bath that awaited them. Usually, Fae would make a run for it first, to get the cleanest of the water, but today her gaze was caught by the form that lay slumped over the table, one hand on the pommel of a dagger, cloth in the other.
With a sigh, and a soft smile, she approached her sister and gave her the gentlest of nudges, sliding a hand beneath her cheek to be certain she didn’t nick her skin on the blade as she woke. Petra’s lashes fluttered open, and looked up at her twin, a small, hidden smile crossing her lips. It was a smile no-one else would notice, but meant the world to Fae.
Petra blinked as her eyes drifted upon her sister’s dirtied form, grimacing slightly as she saw how tiredly the snow-haired girl held herself.
"I could ask the same of you, you know you don’t need to clean them when you’re so tired, Pet."
"Shh, you know I like to."
Fae fell to her knees, scooting closer to her sister and leaning her head against the table. She looked up at Petra with no small amount of concern as she regarded the bags under her eyes, the pallid tone her skin had taken. She knew, however, there would be no talking her sister into taking it easier. She needed her work as midwife just as Fae needed her time in the forests, hunting. With a defeated sigh, she stood, bending to plant a kiss upon Petra’s cheek.
"I love you. Promise me you won’t burn yourself out, okay?"
