Antonio’s hands went lazily up and down Hayato’s sides, as the other, holding his face, did most of the kissing, as usual. The taller liked this: half-lying in his bed; his boyfriend in top of him, kissing his cheeks and nose and lips while he just closed his eyes and let him do whatever he wanted; rain pouring outside the window.
Because of the weather they decided to not go out as they had planned and instead just stay inside, but it was as good as having a date on the park. Hayato’s fingers moved to tangle in the brown locks and licked Antonio’s lips, to which he answered by opening his mouth, allowing the kiss to be deeper.
It was so soothing and pleasant that Antonio could easily melt into their closeness.
Except for one little thing that he tried to not pay mind about but kept bothering him.
Every single time Hayato tilted his face, the frames of the now crooked red glasses would dig against his skin, perturbing this otherwise comforting moment. So he settled his hands in the other’s shoulders and pushed him slightly apart.
“Just a sec” He muttered and took of the glasses, folding them and placing them down besides him “Much better” He smiled and tried to pull Hayato closer, but his boyfriend didn’t lean. Instead, he retrieved the glasses and put them back.
“Tony, you can’t just take go on and take my glasses!” He scolded, frowning confusedly.
“What do you mean?” Antonio asked, starting to laugh but stopping at the other was serious. “Just take them off for now” His hand moved to remove them again but Hayato pushed it away, frowning more “Please?” Antonio insisted
Hayato looked down, and shook his head.
“No” Was all he answered.
Antonio moved into a more sitting position, frowning too.
“Hold on, are you serious? You really don’t want to take them off?” Hayato didn’t reply, so he kept talking. “It’s not like you need them! Why does it matter?” He questioned.
“Why does it matters to you?” Hayato retorted, looking up to meet with his eyes and then lowering his gaze again “I don’t think it bothers you that much” He added in a low tone, and Antonio wasn’t sure what it meant.
“I can’t believe we’re really discussing if you should keep or not your fake glasses on” He sighed and he mean to lighten the mood, but the shorter winced.
“You just don’t know what you’re talking about” Hayato whispered after some seconds, pulling apart and standing up.
“Hey, wait!” Antonio called, disconcerted, thinking the other was going to leave “Are you mad at me? Is it because I called them “fake glasses”?”
There was just silence and Antonio knew it meant he was right.
He raised an eyebrow, completely perplexed.
“It can’t be- Mitsuki says it all the time! Heck, your whole club calls them that way!” He ranted and Hayato clenched his fists.
“My club has nothing to do with it so don’t bring it up!” He replied, raising the volume of his voice and turning his back to the bed.
Antonio stood up and grabbed his arm.
“I bring it up because it’s stupid! You just use those glasses to fit with them and they don’t even appreciate you! You could do so much better but you’re stuck with them for some reason! They don’t even need you to make a number; they already bribed the president into not shutting them down!” He let out passionately, not being able anymore to keep it to himself as he was doing for a long time now. “They treat you bad just because your vision is perfect! That's stupid! Just drop the club and drop the glasses!” He finished, and Hayato shook off his arm.
“Shut up! You don’t understand it!” He yelled and Antonio let him go, speechless. Had he went too far? “I'm going home” He announced bitterly.
“Wait, it's still raining! Hayato!” Antonio reacted when the other was already leaving.
“I don't care!” Was the answer he got.
Balancing a large pile of papers, Toru walked down the hallway, eventually scolding some student when it was necessary.
“Ah, Kimata!” He called out when he catched the sight of a red jumpsuit in an empty classroom, approaching the first year and waiting until he turned to him. “Can I ask you to tell Tanaka that-“
“I'd rather not” Hayato interrupted dryly.
“Ah… I-I see…” Toru muttered, understanding what he meant “I-is there something I can do to help?” He offered with an apologetic smile.
Hayato shook his head, quietly mumbling “Thanks anyway”, and he nodded and went out.
Minutes later he returned, now with his hands free, and sat down next to the other, who didn't exactly looked like he was feeling good.
“Sorry, I know this isn't really my place” He said, and his panting made it clear that he walked fast the way back, not ran because running wasn't allowed in the halls “I just remembered that I'd seen Tanaka was down too, and, correct me if I'm wrong, you guys hasn't really talked about… whatever happened between you, right?”
Hayato opened wide his eyes, and nodded with his head.
“You're right”
“I don't want to tell you what to do, but I know it isn't good to keep things bottled” Toru continued, blushing faintly. Of all the glasses club members, Hayato was the one he found less annoying, more comfortable to be around, and he sincerely wanted to help him. “And that doesn't sound like you. Like any of you” He added and the younger bit his lip.
“I know!” Hayato answered, sounding helpless “It was our first discussion, and I don't know how to talk to him now…” He confessed.
“Say that to him. That you don't know what to say. You'll find a way together” Toru assured, placing a hand on his shoulder.
“Does it works for you, senpai?” Hayato looked at him with big eyes, and Toru blushed even more “I see you and the president discussing all the time. That's how you two fix it?”
Toru nodded and scratched his cheek.
“That's what we try, yes. It isn't exactly easy… but we try” He stated with a soft smile, and shyly ruffled the other's hair. “I have to go now”
“Thanks” Hayato muttered, looking at the other until he was out of sight, and then stood up to search for his boyfriend.
He couldn't find Antonio outside classes, and so he was already thinking that he wouldn't get the chance to talk to him that day.
But as he was walked home, he felt rushed steps behind him, and strong arms pulled him into a hug.
“Tony!” He exclaimed, surprised, and hugged back.
They stayed like that for some seconds, until Antonio pulled back.
“You were right, Hayato” He muttered and Hayato looked up at his face, confused. “I don't understand it” Antonio explained. “Maybe I need glasses to see what you think?” He asked with a small smile, and Hayato laughed, hugging him again. “No, but really, I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. I don't want you to stay mad at me” The taller kept talking.
“I won't” Hayato guaranteed, burying his face on the other's broad chest.
“So… will you tell me? About the glasses?” Antonio asked cautiously.
Hayato stood still for a second, and then slowly shook his head.
“For now I just want to hug you, Tony. Is that alright?”
“Sounds good for me” Antonio answered, kissing the top of his head.
Antoniostreched out loudly and stood up, almost knocking down his chair in the process.Hayato looked up from the homework he was definitely not paying attention atall anymore, and smiled.
“You gotbored, too?” He asked and the other nodded, stretching his arms once more.
“I’ll grabsomething to drink” Antonio announced, leaving the room and nodding again atthe “There’s soda in the fridge” Hayato directed to him.
He went back minutes after with asoda can and a spoon in one hand, a plate in the other, and a disappointed expressionin his face; and sat down with a faint sigh.
“You didn’t eat it” He mumbled softly and Hayato looked confusedat him, his face turning red when he saw the piece of cake in the plate, the samecake that Antonio made for him days ago.
“Ehh…I-I don’t like sweets too much…” He quickly excused himself, and Antonio huffed, but then smiled a little.
“Ok. I’ll eat it then”
“No no no don’t- ” Hayato tried to stop him but Antonio had alreadyshoved a spoonful of cake in his mouth, and was making a disgusted face.
“Agh! This tastes terrible!” He complained, forcefully swallowing. “I’msorry, I didn’t realize it was so bad…” He apologized “I’ll doanother one for you! I’ll make sure it is good! I promise!”
Hayato laughed at this sudden outburst of motivation. “It’s ok!You don’t need to”
“No, no, Ihave to! I’m at fault, I gave you a terrible cake, I’ll make it up to you!” Antonioinsisted.
“I told you, it’s ok! I spilled juice over your notebook theother day, so consider us even!” Hayato argued, looking to his side and a bit embarrassed.
“Wait, that was you?”
“What, you didn’t know? I thought that was why you gave me thecake”
The both of them laughed for a good while, and Antonio spoke again.
“Ok, but really, I’m making another one for you”
“Geez, I’m not mad at you, why are you so determined?”
The tallersighed and smiled warmly.
“Because Ilike you, obviously”
There was asudden silence in which Hayato only stared flustered at him, so Antoniocontinued.
“There, Isaid it. Just go out with me and I won’t intoxicate you again, whatdo you say?” He said in a joking tone, but his eyes were serious.
Again, there was a long, uncomfortable silence, until Hayato nervouslynodded and leaned closer to him, with which seemed obvious intentions to kisshim.
Antonio stayed still, torn between leaning in or pulling back, when aloud “Ahem!” from the door startled them both.
Yuuto was standing there, arms crossed, looking mildly amused. “Ithought you only asked permission to court him”
Hayato looked down, embarrassed, and Antonio laughed.
“I’m sorry, big bro, may I kiss him?” He asked charmingly, andYuuto had no more choice than laugh and tell him to go ahead.
Hayato goes in the Meganebu room saying that he has submitted some of his photos for a contest.
"Oh, this are copies of the pictures you sent?" asks Takuma picking an envelope from his bag. "No no no no! Don’t look at that!" Hayato demands, but the whole club gather in curiosity. Only to find tons of pictures of Antonio.
Antonio heading to classes. Antonio with the student council. Antonio holding a kitten. Antonio walking in a breathtaking sunset.
Everyone turns around to look at Hayato, who is just there, sweating nervously
“Onii-chan, I want you to… meet my boyfriend…” Hayato shyly announced and Yuuto was bouncing from excitement.
“Omg is it Mitsuki? Tell me it’s Mitsuki! Oh he’s so cute…”
“No! Ew! It’s not Mitsuki! It’s another classmate…”
He tried to explain but Antonio already popped up his head through the door.
“Hello big brother! I’m Antonio and I’m dating little Hayato here!”
“Tony I told you to wait outside!”
“Oh hello! I’m Yuuto, but big brother is ok for me!” The older answered, shushing Hayato and pulling Antonio inside the house, examining him, favorably impressed. “But, oh, I thought you said he was your classmate, silly me, of course he can’t be a teen-“
“But I’m Hayato’s classmate. We’re the same age” Antonio replied and there’s a silence as Yuuto just blinked.
“Holy shit” Yuutoo finally spoke again “Please tell me you have an older sibling!”
Do lorenzo/mitsuki with the star crossed lovers au because that's my favoueite kind of AU
(This is Antonio/Hayato instead because of reasons)
“Hayato! Can we talk?” Antonio called his classmate as soon as the class finished, hiding his nervousness behind a radiant smile.
“Yeah, sure” Hayato picked up his things from his desk and disorderly stuffed it in the backpack. “About what?” The smaller asked and Antonio looked around. A few other boys were around, and Mitsuki was looking at them.
“Could we go somewhere else?”
"Oh, you mean right now? Sorry, I gotta head to the club. We’re so close to finishing the glasses! We can talk tomorrow!”
"Yeah… Tomorrow”
—-
“Wanna come to my place, Hayato? We could do homework together”
“Alright! I need help with English so was thinking in asking you”
“Fantastic then! Want to grab something to eat before or-”
“Hold on, it’s my phone. Hello? Oh. Right. Ok. So you won’t be home tonight? No, it’s not problem. Yeah, I’ll watch Ikuto doesn’t make a mess. Sure. Bye! Sorry, Tony, it was my brother. I have to go home now, so, another time?”
"Ah… sure”
—-
“Hayato!” “The president says we have special activities for today! Isn’t it exciting? See you tomorrow!”
"Tony! The council’s meeting finishes around the time my club does, right? So we could walk home-” “Atchoo! Sorry I got a bad cold, my parents will pick me up” “Oh. So tomorrow, if you’re better…”
"Say, Hayato, you don’t have club today, right?” “Oh, yeah, but Shirogane-sensei said he has to talk with us now…” “Ok. Then tomorrow… Maybe…”
Hayato, Hayato, Hayato, I can’t, I can’t, I can’t
Antonio fisted his hand and punched his pillow, before falling into his bed and painfully fight against the sobbing that threatened to take over him.
Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow
His body finally gave up and the spasms of crying invaded him, impassive to the minutes, to the smile he still tried to force out of habit, to the knocks on his door.
“Antonio? You started packing already?” The voice passed muffled through the wooden.
“Yes mom…"
Full of rage and sorrow, he got up and kicked a box full of clothes, scattering them all over the room.
—-
"Hayato, I need to talk to you”
“Sure, but-”
“No. Now. I’m moving out.”
"That’s cool! Where are you-“
"Out of Japan”
Both fell in silence, because it was easier that way, because looking at each other teary eyes was enough.
Still, Hayato worked up courage to speak again. He needed to know, he needed to make sure.
Conveniently ignoring the lesson taking place in the front of the class, Hayato engaged in one of the few interesting activities to do in a classroom: Passing notes.
It wasn’t originally his idea. Mitsuki was as bored as everyone else so started to toss him crumpled pieces of papers, full of threats at first but that slowly resulted in a small talk. And then Antonio joined too, taking his time to neatly fold a paper into a plane, aiming it to his head.
So Hayato was too busy to do anything else but answer one and another’s respective notes; Mitsuki mostly complaining about how many classes they still had before going to the club with Soma-senpai, and Antonio asking if he had something planned for the weekend.
It was good and he was managing the double messaging fine. But he obviously had to mess up.
“And we have P.E. later. If there’s something worst than being in a club with you, it is P.E." Ranted Mitsuki.
“It’s because you’re so weak! Even the senpais noticed it. But I like P.E. We can finally run around and HAVE YOU SEEN ANTONIO IN SHORTS? He’s so damn fine”
Of course, he noticed he sent that to the wrong receptor when it was too late and Antonio was already blushing. At least he looked cute
The more I think about HayaTonio, the more I ship it.
They would be perfect together. They’d care for each other and always do fun stuff together.
Hayato probably would be embarrased sometimes by Antonio’s exuberance, but that feeling soon goes away. They always make the others have a good time when they’re around, or at least crack a smile when it comes to the most difficults one (read as: Lorenzo, Yukiya, etc).
They are cute to each other and everyone else is jealous. Yeah.
Hayato finally convinced Mitsuki to go on a date with him, so in a break between classes he calls Antonio apart and shows him a bunch of different shirts and pants he brought from home, unable to decide what to wear. Antonio laughs and gave it a look, picking the clothes that would best fit him. “Thanks Tony you’re such a good friend!” “I know”, he mocks and runs a hand over Hayato’s hair.
At the end of the day, Antonio stays in the council’s room, looking focused out of the window. Curious, Toru approaches him and follows his gaze. Seeing that he was watching at Hayato leaving with Mitsuki, and noticing the unreadable look in the taller’s face, Toru turns at William with a concerned expression, and silently leaves when the president walks toward them.
“Antonio… Is everything alright?” William asks kindly, placing a hand in his shoulder. Antonio turns to him with a sad smile. “Yes. I’m just happy that Hayato considers me a good friend” He says as his voice cracks a little, and tears goes down his cheeks.
