We've been building a big tree, a Dragon's Blood tree from Yemen, and some bottleneck trees stacked with desert roses. They were created from donated fabrics that have been collected, assembled, dyed, cut, sorted, and pieced together by kids and local artists alike. The Trees will be on display at the @unicefusa Fight the Famine fundraiser on 4/29, proceeds are going towards supporting South Sudan, Yemen, Somalia, and Nigeria; all four countries are facing severe drought and famine due to war and climate change. Here's a little carousel of the 'Fight the Famine' project that we've been spearheading in the East End community with @unicef - the fundraiser is on 4/29 and will raise money for Yemen, South Sudan, Somalia, & Nigeria, all facing severe conditions in the face of war and drought. As part of the project we have been collecting old linens and are making an installation for the event, creating Yemeni and African vegetation from these cut, dyed, and repurposed fabrics.
