To my dearest daughter Hazel,
If you are reading this, it means that I have passed on. I know we were not close towards the end, but I think you should hear this from me and not some stuffy estate lawyer. The fortune is gone. Some bad investments and your fourth stepmother had something to do with that. I have only Oakhill to leave to you. Unfortunately, it is in quite a state of disrepair, we had so many other homes at one point that we just forgot about this one.
You were always the creative one, I’m sure you can turn it into a lovely home. I also leave you the remainder of your trust fund, $1000 dollars. We were very alike, you and I, in personality.. and in finance skills.
Sincerely, Arthur Briggs III
