The Residency in the Garden threw the second Showcase of the 2015 season on July 25th, featuring work by Hazel Rickard and Abigail McNamara. The evening began with a full taco bar, adding a beautiful splash of color and generously donated by Por Que No Taqueria. As the sun was lowering, attendees were invited to sip on sangria and contemplate internal worlds turned inside out in Abigail McNarama’s piece, “Untitled Space,” installed inside The Green House. As the evening grew dark, Hazel Rickard performed by candle light the sweet tunes she had crafted over her week-long stay, inspired by conversations with Portland peers.

H A Z E L  R I C K A R D

During Hazel Rickard’s week-long Greenhouse Residency, the Greenhouse functioned as Studio and Bedroom. Inside, Hazel investigated the life of myth in contemporary youth culture - how dreams and stories motivate and transform our world, and how these dreams change over time. In Portland, she created a collection of songs based on interviews with residents and travelers. She performed her collection during the Residency’s Second Showcase held on July 25th 2015.
