It's always a strange feeling to deconstruct things I've done. If it's a thing that people seem to like, it feels like horn-tooting and self-congratulation. If it's a thing people seem to not like or ignore, it feels plaintive and whiny. Regardless, this was a shirt I made and I was excited about it before, during, and after that act. I had an idea at the very start of my design process for #hbcapsule17 — basically I'd make a flip of the standard event/security tee but instead of the back saying STAFF like they always do, it would say STAPH. It was...mean-spirited: both to people (who I assume are dumb and would not get that they were being spelling-played and would also likely let me backstage under the premise that I worked...somewhere?) And to me (who I sort of believe to be a social contagion who is actually seriously damaging to those who allow themselves to be exposed to me). I didn't end up making it. But I did immediately get an email from my spirit guide, The Illustrious Gnou, with this line in it. He sends me shit like this All. The. Time. 😷✨🙇 #secretweapon #hateball (at Rocket Society)
