HBG MURAL FEST

Joining an urban art movement across the country, @SprocketMuralWorks was created to boost community pride and civic engagement in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and in 2017 they launched their first HBG Mural Fest with more than a dozen new installations across the city. Bringing together a healthy mix of local and visiting artists HBG turned to local stencil art Ralphie Seguinot, aka SR81, to create this captivating glimpse into the soul of a child, painted on the side of Sayford Supermarket at N 3rd St.  @ralphiesr81/

"TRANSFORMATION"

From the time Key Detail started painting street art in his home country of Belarus he says he's "worked consistently towards developing his unique style and his skills." After studying architecture Key Detail moved to New York where he creates murals as well as drawing and painting canvases, while continuing to refine both skills and style. In 2017, assisted by fellow New Yorker and Belarus emigre Julia Yu-baba, Key Detail joined HBG Mural Festival host @SprocketMuralWorks in Harrisburg, PA, and created this stunning statement about the power of recycling. Painted on N 3rd St on the side of @BBBSCapRegion this wall was supported by 65-year-old @LCSWMAPA who manages more than a million tons of solid waste each year and provides strong advocacy for a more sustainable future.  @keydetail/  @juliayubaba/

HBG MURAL FEST

Charlotte, NC artist Nick Napoletano uses the human figure as “a vehicle to explore and document various facets of the human condition as they relate to both the individual and the universal whole." Napoletano says his rich colors and idealized figures "brim with allegory and symbolism" and are meant to function as a mirror on the community and an agent for positive change—perhaps a key reason for his invitation by @SprocketMuralWorks to participate in their 2019 edition of the HBG Mural Fest in Harrisburg, PA. This brand new work is at Herr and N 3rd Streets.  @napoletanoart/

"BRUJA"

Working across the diverse neighborhoods of Harrisburg, @SprocketMuralWorks uses creativity to enhance civic engagement and pride. After organizing several earlier murals, in 2017 Sprocket launched the first HBG Mural Fest, an event @TheBurgNews said was unlike anything Central PA had seen before. Artists from near and far, working alongside volunteers of all ages, transformed walls across the city, with Ecuadorian graffiti and tattoo artist Vera Primavera creating this large-scale work behind Locust and N Court St boutique, The Plum. No matter the medium Vera says her work "revolves around mysticism, magic, intimacy, and women." Her paintings exploring the questions and discoveries, fears and joys of femininity are autobiographical and this painting titled "Witch" presumably takes inspiration from her tattoo series “Minimum Rituals” for which she takes the role of a witch designing spells and hand-engraving them on skin.  @veraprimavera/

I am creating a mural in the 10 day Sprocket Mural Fest. 14 new murals have been going up in Harrisburg, PA since August 31st. There is a Block Party on Sunday, September 8th from 12 -5pm. There will be food, music and mural tours centered around State St., Harrisburg, PA. More events during the festival can be found at Sprocketmuralworks.com @sprocketmuralworks My mural shows a young astronaut looking to the moon and stars. The piece was inspired by how limitless space is and the potential to reach the stars. The mural is in progress until Sunday. The scaffolding will be down for the Block Party and all murals will be displayed. The other artists created some really amazing murals this year.
