anyway huntercorp is an organisation which, given the nature of hunting, most likely includes medical insurance. which means that while og sam & dean avoided hospitals where possible and did their own first aid, hc sam and dean will have had proper medical care for their entire lives. thinking about the difference not only in the placement of scars but the cleanness of healing. hc sam and dean are lightly peppered with clean, thin scars - they had proper rehabilitation after serious injuries, access to medication and care during healing. og sam and dean have poorly healed, twisted scar tissue all over their bodies - no breaks between hunts, always another hunt unless you’re genuinely unable to function. no time for rehabilitation or full recovery. limited access to medication and care, sewing up their own wounds and relocating their own dislocated shoulders ever since they were teenagers. just something i think about every day

huge plot point in the post-canon “sam visits the huntercorp winchesters” fic i will probably never write is that at one point hc john asks sam to fetch something for him and sam automatically replies “yes sir” and every single one of the huntercorp winchesters goes 😰⁉️

when the revolution happens and i have to kill huntercorp sam and dean

by the way there’s absolutely no way hc sam and dean managed to just “go to brazil”. sam and dean at that point are wanted not only for 15+ years of everything from B&E to mass murder but for trying to assassinate the president, and hc sam and dean are from a world where hunting is a legitimate profession - they don’t know how to hide and avoid the law and all that shit sam and dean take for granted.

basically what i’m saying is they get one state over and instantly arrested becuz they get spotted on cctv and don’t have the Chuck Protagonist Protection in this world. also i dont think sam and dean even told their huntercorp counterparts the whole “being wanted criminals” thing, so who knows if they even know they SHOULD be hiding. hc john, who’s canonically in the same world but separated, sees their arrests on tv and has to break them out and help them flee and it’s the most stressful 72 hours of hc sam and dean’s lives

and what im using that meta for is to think about huntercorp sam touching sam’s scars - the twisted line across his palm from a wound reopened many times, the puckered flesh on his lower back where he died for the first time, the prominent scar tissue he and dean must both be covered in that the show doesn’t bother with - and mourning everything his counterpart has had to live through, marvelling at how much sam has somehow survived while managing to stay kind
