Mm. Yes. I have been thinking about Eldrich and affection.
While by no means unapproachable or unkind, he’s still a stranger to affection, thanks to his remote locale. Decently sociable when you encounter him. Tentative, but not shy. Gestures of affection would be received with...surprise, but not shunned. He wouldn’t forget it (but there is so little to remember these days). It would take a good while of acclimation to the other to get him to show his own affection beyond just quality time. He has plenty of time.
He’s sentimental. He has the capacity to be loving, it’s just gone untouched for so long.
Muses who will hear you call them cute and
Very quietly think
What.
Since he is relevant, I’ll go ahead and say Eldrich is kinda like a DP ghost in that he’s solid, but can go immaterial when he wants. So he still has tactile sensation and senses. It may be a deliberate choice not to show his head, or it could be a case of the appearance being stuck to look a way after the lethal trauma was sustained.
His skin has probably changed to an unnatural color, I think, since I’ve now made it that his form has wafts of shadow coming off. He may be a more greyish color beneath his armor. I really like the idea of even human ghosts becoming a bit “off” and abstracted in appearance after they die, because they are no longer obeying their material forms to a T.
Eldrich may say some...snide things every now and then, but he strikes me as a bit humorless. While he isn’t bitter about being a ghost, I think his sense of humor has dulled. He hasn’t had a reason or inclination to...laugh about anything. He appreciates simple beauty, yes, but his heart is. Hollower than before. Fill it with something good.

🍎 : how stable is my muse’s mental health? have they been diagnosed with any mental illnesses and / or conditions? do they have any undiagnosed mental illnesses and / or conditions? do they or should they attend therapy?
Maybe the years in the afterlife have tempered Eldrich, but he’s, as far as he is now concerned, mild-mannered and docile with a stable mind. I would say he has some violence in him but I think he’s good at employing it only where he thinks is strictly necessary. One would think he has trauma from watching his body decay, but he actually describes it as a beautiful thing by the end.
🍒 : how much does my muse value companionship? do they constantly keep people around them, or do they prefer to be alone often? do they have or desire to have many friends? do they see every meeting as an opportunity to make a new friend?
Companionship is scarce but he is generally fairly trusting. As a ghost, he doesn’t have much to lose anyway, and maintains his chivalrous reception of most people. He doesn’t mind one way or the other if he has many friends, but he’d be happy for friends and would treat them well. He likes to make friends with those who allow him to approach--most people are scared because of his appearance and the fact they’re likely to encounter him in the dead of night or after dusk.
🍐 : how intelligent is my muse overall? are they smarter than the average person, or less than? are they primarily self-taught, or did they acquire most of their knowledge in school? are they more street smart or book smart?
Certainly a more read, book-smart individual. He has a decent education, probably not in math but more in the realms of society, literature, and history (if I’m guessing about the nature of what he was taught in class). He was also trained in combat--hand to hand and swordsmanship--but finds little need to exercise those skills today.
//I'm so glad you brought back Eldrich, dude was one of my favorite characters on your blog. He's just dang cute... (P.S... is Billy x Eldrich still on the table? 🥺)
Me too!! I’m glad my interest in him was revitalized, I’ve come to a point where I’m trying to appreciate my original characters for what they offer. He’s adorable. Absolutely boyfriend shaped.
Not to gush but he really captures this thing I love in my original works where he combines these elements of things feared and lonely and desolate (especially in some of the music I have for him) yet embodies, in his personality, kindness and wanting to help others. I love bridging the scary supernatural with genuine love and tenderness. Bringing together something primal and daunting with something soft and still so very human.
Cough. Anyway.
Yes, it absolutely is.
Talking with a friend and. Eldrich is great because he's this kind soft-spoken ghost. And then will deck someone if they're acting up without warning. The punch is the warning.
