Minwoo’s father was a lot like his son is now. He worked for a reigning crime family at the time, doing much the same thing Minwoo does now. He gathered information and sold it, infiltrated groups and locations and fed his superiors his intel. And Minwoo had no idea despite the fact that he would sometimes find himself with random defense classes that he though he had no use for. His father was not always terribly bright, though, and he made a fatal mistake when he infiltrated the wrong group, and then gave the information back to them on accident. In retaliation, the group killed him and his wide, and nearly killed his child. Other than that, he was generally brilliant and knowledge hungry, which is where Minwoo gets it from.

Minwoo, at present time, is actively avoiding both Donghyun and Kwangmin. He’s afraid of the former, and terrified of the latter. He spends most of his time hidden away in his room, either curled up in the darkness of his closet, or perched in the corner furthest away from the door. The knife Kwangmin gave him for his birthday is always within reach. As are his darts. If he manages to sleep, they’re kept beneath his pillow.

Minwoo -- Thorin, Pippin

Thorin: What have you lost that you wish to regain?

“My parents. I’ve learned to love my life, and I do enjoy the people I know, and my current life choices are doing well by me... But I wish I would have had more time with my family. They didn’t deserve to die like they did. I miss them, and you never really know how much you’ll miss something until it’s gone. And no matter how much I wish or want, I’ll never regain that. They’re dead. The dead don’t come back.”

Pippin: Tell me about when you did something that no one thought you could do.

“Well... Growing up in foster homes for six of the past eight years of my life was a very interesting experience. Not all of the houses and families were encouraging and loving. One of the...less loving families actually had a small army of kids. They didn’t abuse us, but they didn’t really care for us, either. I knew it was wrong, but no one listened to us. And we weren’t hurt, so there was nothing they would do. But that didn’t stop us older kids from talking. We had an idea one day, but it required lying...and being hurt. They didn’t want to. They didn’t want me to. They didn’t think I would. ...but I did. I picked fights. I caused trouble. I raised absolute hell whenever possible. I started acting out at home. One day, the foster father snapped, shoved me down the stairs. We had to go tot he hospital. They were investigated. While I recovered, they took the other kids away. When I was healed, I was taken away, too. Someone had to get hurt in order to get attention. Those kids deserved families that wanted them. All of them.”

If one pays close attention to Minwoo’s speech patterns, they can learn a great deal about how he’s feeling in that exact moment, and how he views them and himself in general.

For example, while Minwoo was the lost boy Tootles, still under Pan’s tutelage, he only used codenames when referring to the other lost boys, and he called Pan either “Peter” or “Peter Pan”. This changed when they escaped. To distance himself from the boy he’d been and the adult he was forced to become, Minwoo began referring to the other pirates with their birth names. Or, rather, the names they went by other than the codenames Pan gave them. He doesn’t like using their new codenames. It reminds him of their life with Pan. Meanwhile, Pan is just that — Pan. He doesn’t joke around and try not to say the name, because he doesn’t believe in creating fear over that. Pan doesn’t scare him.

When in a bad mood, or when one of the pirates has royally pissed him off (or, on the more rare occasion, when he’s feeling particularly playful), Minwoo uses their codenames, but only somewhat. He’s bastardized them to some degree, made them into annoying names. i.e Hook/Hooky, Curlicue, Foxy, Thing One, Thing Two.

When Minwoo is feeling down -- small, weak, childlike, or in any way remotely submissive -- he finds himself unable to use names or nicknames. He falls back into his age and he uses the honorific/familiar term of hyung. This has been happening more and more frequently, almost constantly in most cases, since sometimes around early November of 2014. That’s when everything really began to go downhill for him, and since then, Minwoo’s been unable to see himself as the equal of any of the other pirates. We always sees himself as smaller, or weaker, or worth less than them, and as such, he just falls back into the headspace where hyung is the only term he’ll use for any of them.

Update (Minwoo)

He weighs approximately 45kg/99lbs. This is mostly from his captivity, partially from his “supply run” with Kwangmin, and partially from a couple months back when Hyunseong and Donghyun were gone. This is the most obvious change/wound. 

Severe dehydration and malnutrition

His wrists are both sprained from a combination of being tied the entire time and from being yanked around by Pan on more than one occasion. On top of that, him wrists are raw from where the rope was tied and cut into his skin, and from Minwoo’s struggles when Pan wasn’t there watching him. With time, they’ll heal, but at present time, they’re raw, stiff, and always ache. After they heal, a couple of the wounds at his wrists will scar, but they’ll be almost unnoticeable.

His right shoulder was dislocated during his release. It was injured before when he rammed into the bars of his cage, and that pain will persist and linger once his shoulder is popped back into its socket. The damage from the dislocation will heal over the next 4-6 weeks.

He’ll be rather tenderheaded over the next week or two. Pan yanked him around by the hair a lot, especially towards the end when he could no longer stand and support his own weight.

There’s also the usual bruises and such, because while Minwoo can normally navigate the bunker with his eyes closed, being blindfolded in an unfamiliar setting is setting him up to fail. He ran into things while mapping the room, and Pan roughed him up.

Panic attacks will become increasingly frequent. He’ll have a number of triggers but the largest of them will be touch, being woken by another person, and a need to check on the other pirates. In short: don’t touch him unless he starts it, take care if you have to wake him, and be prepared to know where the others are if he asks.

Nightmares will also become a much bigger problem, not that they were small -- or had ever stopped -- to begin with. To avoid the nightmares, he’ll probably avoid sleeping until he passes out in inopportune places.

Finally, because Minwoo was blindfolded for 2.5 weeks, he will be sensitive to light and will stick to dark/dim rooms for the next few weeks as he adjusts. He won’t leave the bunker until dark, and will avoid the main room because it’s usually lit. When he can’t be fund or he’s panicking, he’ll retreat to his closet or hide under blankets/clothing by his bed.

7. What is the biggest mistake they’ve ever made?

Minwoo’s made a lot of mistakes. Like...a lot. Good god. But the biggest mistake would have to be his attempt to kill himself. Regardless of the fact that he didn’t manage to do any damage, he still made an attempt, and he scared the shit out of Hyunseong and then, later, Kwangmin. And there’s no telling how the others will react when they find out.

8. What mistake(s) do they continue to make/have not learned from?

There’s a number of them, but many of them all tie into one giant mistake that Minwoo just doesn’t seem to learn from. He sees himself as this giant burden, as a failure, as something that weighs the group down and just causes them more trouble than he’s worth. He’s been told and shown time and again that it’s not true -- Donghyun and his discussion following his broken wrist, Hyunseong when he tried to kill himself, Youngmin every single time they get into a discussion that’s more than skin deep, and more. Minwoo should believe him, or at least try to believe them. But he’s so deeply set in his own self-worthlessness that their positive thoughts just don’t reach him most of the time. I’m not sure what he needs to break out of that cycle and learn from it, but I have a feeling we’ll be finding out soon. 

19. Is there anything they refuse to budge on? What are they stubborn about?

Minwoo’s beliefs concerning Peter Pan, the immortal he and the others escaped from, will never change. Pan will always be the most ultimate evil there is. Nothing else compares. On the note of stubbornness, Minwoo is incredibly stubborn where the other pirates are concerned. The specifics vary for each pirate, but the stubbornness is most definitely a constant. He’s also rather stubborn in his belief that in the end, when all is said and done, they -- the other pirates -- will be alive and they’ll be okay. Similarly, he believes that he won’t be. (Specifically, since early to mid June, Minwoo has believed that in the end, he’ll give himself up to protect someone else, and he’ll die before Pan’s killed. He’s accepted this as fact, and his view on it has yet to be budged or altered.)

As of November 30th (during Hyunseong's brief spell where he regressed to the status of Lost Boy and lost the last several months or his memories), Minwoo has a broken right wrist. This runs in tandem with the injuries he sustained from Hook 2.0, which are only now beginning to really heal.

Any other injuries shall be noted here as they occur in the thread.

As an after-effect of his wrist being broken (an injury that will last somewhere between 6-8 weeks), Minwoo is being forced to use his non-dominant hand for basically everything. He won't go to the hospital to get it checked out and put in a cast, claiming he's had enough broken bones to know how to handle it. This is mainly because they don't have the money to waste on him and his foolishness. He's taken to carefully binding it each day and night, using whatever happens to be handy to keep it braced (sticks, knives, etc. combined with scarves, strips of cloth, etc.) At present time, he also refuses to admit how it happened, but anyone who pays attention should have an idea.
