this time of night was only for those who had business with the night. the streets were empty, save for a few scurrying hoodies. so when the crash suddenly hit, there were no pedestrians around to cause a commotion --it was only one small boy with bright, wide eyes, quietly running to the scene.
the guy who got hit-- he was fucking walking. walking away. there was blood dripping out his mouth and he limped, but shit, he didn’t seem to mind. jae smiled a little; he liked this man.
“I don’t think your arm is meant to bend that way.”
the injured boy’s reply sounded out of it; his body must have entered fight-or-flight mode, adrenaline and all that shit. these scenarios were always perfect for jae to swoop in; ideal trust-building, favour-gaining opportunities for whatever this guy could offer him in return later. “that arm’s going to hurt like hell as soon as you get anywhere to rest, y’know? i’m a med student, trust me.”
he was not a med student. but what he was, was an impatient kid who didn’t want to waste time with convincing.
“there’s a hospital across the street. let’s get you treated, alright?” he showed a radiant smile, offering his arm to carry the injured boy.
