⛧˖ ‒‒‒‒‒ How he had managed to convince little miss perfect, the Queen of Hawkins High, THE Chrissy Cunningham to accompany him to a Judas Priest concert, Eddie didn’t know, but trying to figure out how he’d gotten from point ‘A’ to point ‘B’ in general was enough to induce a headache. It had been years since he’d even spoken with her, despite having known her briefly when she’d attended one of his first Corroded Coffin gigs ( an awkward point in his life, undoubtedly. ) Since then, their exchanges had been nothing more that silent passes in hallways, or the odd glance when he’d get into it with her boyfriend in the cafeteria‒‒ what a douchebag. Up until a couple weeks ago, he’d been confident that she didn’t even remember him anymore; a half truth, as it would turn out. It had taken a bit of a jump start to get her to recollect the memories, but she’d remembered him in the end.
That night that they’d reconnected had changed both of their lives in more ways than one, as the events that had taken place after they’d gone back to his trailer had been entirely unexplainable to anyone outside of the two of them ( or so they thought ). They’d experienced two totally different versions of the same occurrence, and both only had the other to confide in now. Shared trauma and a secret were what had bonded them initially, but it wasn’t long before Eddie had taken a more genuine, personal interest in her. It was that interest that had inspired him to invite her out with him that evening, and to his surprise… she’d said yes.
The question that she’d asked him after they’d pulled into the parking lot in his old beater van sparked a smile on his face, a laugh accompanying the spirited nod of his head. The main event at any metal concert was an entirely magical experience on its own, but the parking lot hangouts beforehand were arguably one of the best parts. Parking stalls? No such thing, park wherever you want. Showed up sober? Nope, now you’re drunk or on acid. Came alone? Now you’re best friends with everyone. With crowds of strangers hanging out in clusters like they were old friends, it was a community unlike no other, and it was no secret that Eddie was proud to be a part of it.
❝ If you go to the right concerts, ❞ Eddie answered her, his free hand dipping down to crank the lever on the side of his door and unroll his window. With one hand on the wheel, he shifted in his seat, his upper body poking out of it while he raised his devilhorn handsign loud and proud in the air. ❝ Let’s GO! ❞ He yelled to a large group of partiers who were collectively holding up a homemade banner with the band’s name written across it. Their attention immediately snapped onto him as he drove by, their cheers rising in unison as they threw their hands up, beer splattering the pavement for what was likely the umpteenth time. ❝ Woo! That’s what I’m fucking talking about, baby! ❞ He shouted after situating himself back in his seat, his tone vibrating with vigor. The energy in the place gave him a high like nothing else could.
❝ Try it, ❞ Eddie implored the cheerleader, the grin on his face growing. ❝ Promise you won’t regret it. Just stick your hand out the window. ❞ He was determined to show her how cool his crowd of freaks really were, despite the bad reputation that all of them had‒‒ especially to people that ran in her crowd.
