Imagine Will going to Hogwarts though
I mean, Lyra was raised at her world's version of Hogwarts, but Will would go to "our" version, with Harry Potter and co. being his classmates.
Imagine Will being a half-blood, his father a wizard and his mom muggle-born, but since her mind had deteriorated, she wasn't able to use her wand anymore.
So will starts using his mom's wand at an early age, so early no alarms are fired about underaged magic in his home.
Going to muggle schools until the age of 10 so it wouldn't attract muggle police and neighboors attention
Doing everything in his power to fool St Mungus agents that time and again would knock on his door looking for his mom.
Not having money to buy a "magical" pet on a store, but finding Moxie as a kitten in an alley and loving and chershing her like she's a kneazle.
Shopping by himself on Diagon Alley at eleven for his first year stuff, buying everything from second-hand shops, from robes to cauldrons.
Panicking about going to Hogwarts and leaving his mom, finally calling St Mungus so they could take care of her, prohibiting that anybody other than him visits her there (still afraid of the men looking for information about his missing dad)
Being sorted into Ravenclaw and being so happy about this, the first happy news he had in a very long time, and having a little hope about his future for the first time
Never being able to buy the expensive textbooks, and so he uses the Hogwarts library books to study.
Befriending Neville Longbottom on his visits to St Mungus, both boys having their parents in the same wing of the hospital and scheduling visits together.
Being mocked by everybody for not having books, his wand not really being his (rather his mother's), which makes him suck at spells
Getting into fights in the hallways when people mention his mom at St Mungus
Getting into fights defending more vulnerable students from bullies
Being a loner even on his own house, not really caring about it
Being excellent at Quidditch and Care of Magical Creatures
Getting into a fist fight with Crabble AND Goyle, who are both two years his seniors
Getting detentions for all his troublemaking
Befriending Luna Lovegood, one year his senior, because she defended his mom when people were mocking her situation
Getting decent grades in spite of everything
Going back home for Christmas on his second year and not going back to Hogwarts because he killed someone.
