☾ @hdriyan — thread.
as odd as it may have been... this was the moment haru had been waiting for.
haru's sole intention was to find a quiet place where he could leisurely kill some time before his next engagement, and the appeal of a studio was its soundproof walls that not only kept sound from leaking out, but also prevented noise from infiltrating in. with that goal in mind, he opened the door to one of the studios in the building that he thought was free from the outside, but happened to already have an occupant.
if said occupant had been anyone else, haru would have simply given a quiet apology for the intrusion and moved on to the next seemingly available studio. however, once he recognised who the other party in this particular studio with him now was, a tight knot seemed to have dropped itself into his stomach and his heart went thump, thump, thump.
unaccustomed to the degree of his reaction towards riyan's presence (though he had certainly experienced it already in the past), there was no way for haru to have known that he was able to expertly hide from appearing in his expression the budding nerves forming within.
with a gentle smile that masked the simmering anxiety beneath the surface, haru fully stepped in and walked over to greet the younger male in smooth, albeit noticeably accented korean. "you're riyan, right? moon riyan, was it? i apologise if i come off as rude, i'm still not the most confident in my korean."
the truth of the matter was far from what he implied. haru was far too concerned with sounding rude that he knew with absolute certainty that there was not a single lapse in his tone of formality. he came to learn previously that riyan was about three years younger than him, yet haru chose to speak to him under the impression that riyan may have seniority over him in some capacities. he thought there was no harm in trying to get into riyan's good graces—added with how haru lacked the wherewithal to assert any semblance of superiority for the sake of pride alone to begin with.
his tone was confident and his gaze unwavering. “if it pleases you, i'd appreciate if i could speak to you in english instead. i know that you know english, and you're probably more fluent than me, but i'd rather embarrass myself in a language i'm more fluent in than otherwise.”
