Sleepy + healthcare au for 3 sentence prompts? I hope you're having a good easter
Four had no right to be this sleepy. It was frustrating. Flipping between a day shift rotation of six weeks and a night shift rotation of six weeks should not be this hard.
Yet here he was, at four in the morning, nodding off at the nurse's station while he tried desperately to chart his latest patient assessment. The only thing that startled him awake was the red alarm on the monitor ringing apnea.
It hardly had much of an impact, though. That same patient had been alarming apnea the entire night, and they were not, in fact, apneic. Sighing, Four silenced the alarm, now sleepy and irritated.
He finally caved in and texted Legend, asking for an energy drink.
You swore you wouldn't have one of those, he reminded himself.
His phone buzzed. Yeah, I got a monster drink. You good with that?
Don't do it, Link.
Four ignored his better judgment. He had to stay awake, dang it.
That's what coffee is for, you moron!
But an energy drink would work better.
Four rose, about to text his friend, when another red alarm went off. This one was not apnea, and was, in fact, very real.
The adrenaline rush of coding a patient for the next twenty minutes worked well enough, and Four didn't bother texting Legend back, huffing and moving to check on his patient. That was one way to stay awake, he supposed.
