a lil post concerning kaiya, sei, and chinatsu’s role in canon for the sake of making interactions easier for y’all!

     prior to the pillar meeting with tanjiro and nezuko, very few people know about the three of them. ubuyashiki keeps their contributions to the demon slayer corps under wraps bc well!! they’re all demons!! even if chinatsu is a former slayer as well as an in-law, it doesn’t change what she is, and ubuyashiki knows it’ll be hard for them to be accepted. if interactions occur during this time period, most slayers, even if they’re pillars, won’t know about their connection to the corps, and it’s 100% okay if they try to attack. it’s also alright if they don’t believe them if they try to explain the situation bc it does sound far-fetched.

     of course, it’s also cool if your muse recognizes chinatsu bc she would’ve been somewhat well-known in the corps bc not only is she ubuyashiki’s relative, but she was also aiming to become a pillar before she became a demon. 

     it isn’t until tanjiro and nezuko’s meeting with the pillars that ubuyashiki decides to make chinatsu, sei, and kaiya’s connection to the corps well-known. they, along with all of the pillars, receive letters explaining everything; the three of them are possibly summoned? so that they can receive uniforms ( don’t want them confused for enemies, now! ) and possibly meet the pillars who probably have questions :’ ) this part can always be discussed bc i don’t want to ever step on any toes! but after all that, it won’t be so unusual to see the lil demon trio visiting the headquarters every now and then.

btw i need it to be known that sei can be a lil bastard, but it's kinda his defense. i can't articulate this well bc my brain is at 2% battery, but he'll act snarky and annoying until he gets a feel for the other person? and sometimes he'll still be a lil bastard, but it won't be his personality 24/7. you'll get to see him be quiet and serious which tends to be more his real? vibe. he's a sad lad to be honest but he hides it behind a bunch of layers of anger and cheeky comments.

DASH GAMES | how are you ruined?

kaiya is ruined by loneliness.

you are so lonely. you are miserable in your solitude. you hate that you cannot bring yourself to reach out, to ask for help. you will be forgotten by all who never knew you. your biggest fear is that you will die alone, and you know this fear will be seen to fruition. you refuse to extend yourself beyond the box that others put you in. and it is a box that no one dare come near. you are lonely because you are afraid of yourself.

kaigaku is ruined by fear.

you live on the edge of your seat, but it is not a good thing. you're constantly looking over your shoulder, unsure of what will hurt you next. you have been hurt so much, but you refuse to adapt to your pain. instead, you avoid what you cannot control. you are so afraid of making a mistake, of being brought closer to your doom. but, despite this, you cannot articulate what you fear. you are just afraid. only afraid. and you will be afraid until you are brought to what you fear.

sei is ruined by trauma.

you cannot get over the past. you are constantly remembering, never forgetting. you cant live in the moment because the moment is not what brought you here. you are birthed, raised, and killed in the past. you will never get over what was done to you, be it big or be it small. you cannot escape what you refuse to confront.

miyuna is ruined by fury.

you are angry. you are angry and everyone knows it. the fire within you will not die, cannot die. for if it dies, you wont have a reason to burn. your rage simmers close to your chest, it boils near something you wont touch. you are angry because it is easier than anything else. you are angry because you choose it over pain. you are ruined because you cannot feel anything but your own ire.

i'm constantly thinking about how sei would never harm a human being ( unless they were Horrible ofc ), but he will maim a demon without blinking an eye bc there's so much anger and hatred in his heart towards them. and would you even be surprised if i said part of that stems from his own self-hatred for eating his own family?? bc it does and he actually doesn't like kaiya or chinatsu to see him when he's eating bc all he can think of his how he looked that night he turned and : (((( he doesn't want the only people he cares about to see the part of him that he hates so much

What does Sei feels makes a demon? Outside of the obvious, demon blood, but does he feel that it's a demons situation that causes it or is he apathetic towards it all

     sei blames muzan for what people become once they're turned into demons, especially bc the guy will turn someone and leave them to cause mayhem on their own. he knows many people don’t want to be a demon, didn’t ask for it, some were tricked into it, and some actually were just horrible human beings. but no matter who they once were, sei is apathetic/neutral towards their situation bc at the end of the day, they’re hurting people now. for that reason, they have to die. when he gets angry or agitated towards a demon, it’s the demon persona ( if that’s the right word here ) his feelings are directed towards rather than the actual person that’s hidden inside. 

     even when kaiya digs through the memories of a demon and discovers they were someone innocent, sei will tell her they still have to kill them. he can’t be swayed bc the lives the three of them lead aren’t happy, carefree lives. they’re having to fight all the time and hunt for clues to defeat muzan, and in chinatsu’s case, she’s still having to deal with her hunger and pretty much starve herself to avoid hurting a human. he isn’t gonna force an innocent person who has already suffered enough into that sort of lifestyle; it’s better to just put an end to them. plus the three of them are all guilt-ridden. is it really okay to put that on someone else?

     even chinatsu wouldn’t be here if not for kaiya begging for her to be spared and having a good reason for keeping chinatsu alive ( demon slayer corps connection! ). sei is just!! very much “ this is the way it has to be and my mind can’t be changed. ”

     sei will harshly call your muse an idiot in the heat of battle and then softly call them an idiot after the battle while bandaging them up. he’ll also very gently call them a crybaby while he wipes away their tears. he’ll call them every insult under the moon and the entire time the actual translation will be, “ i care about you. i love you. pls take care of yourself. it hurts me when you cry. ” sir will hold his softer feelings very closely to his chest so no one can see them, but pls know that they’re attempting to wriggle out of his grasp all the time!

i’m laughing a lil bc writing that reply for sei made me realize sei was a picky eater, and that carries on even as a demon. he straight up would rather go hungry for a little while than eat a demon he deemed too gross to stomach and i??? i’d be insulted if it were me asdfg

i’m thinking about sei and first how his appearance would make people assume he’s bad news bc his eyes are a scary red with that slit pupil, and he’s just?? got a villain kinda face if that makes sense. handsome but somehow a lil sneaky and you don’t wanna trust him. and he’s always just :/ why does everyone assume i’m gonna maim and eat them :/ asdfg

i’m also thinking about how very cold and distant sei can be at first. and he’ll either be kinda mean? or kinda soft about it depending on the person. with kaiya, he was very soft and gentle with her bc he heavily associated her with himari. the two have similar personalities, and it was a lil hard for him to separate the two for a short while after kaiya made him remember his human life. so he would be adamant about his boundaries, about not getting too close, but he wouldn’t ever say anything outright harsh or unkind.

with chinatsu, sei was kind of mean :’ ) he’d make pointed comments and be super uncooperative with conversations and even during their work. she was able to wear him down with the help of kaiya, but sei couldn’t trust chinatsu and only accepted her bc of kaiya’s insistence. plus chinatsu’s personality tended to rub sei the wrong way -- she liked to poke and prod way too much for his liking.

generally speaking, sei will tend to lean towards being gently cold and distant to most people, but it’s gonna just depend on if he decides he likes or hates you  ┐(シ)┌ i don’t have a proper ending to this hc bc i’m tired but....... i love sei and i’m glad i have the space in my brain to think about him again <3
