Hi I have a lot of feelings about Patrick from Perks of Being a Wallflower. About how after the movie/book ends, he’s in college and finally in love with himself. He’s no longer ashamed. He enjoys his sexuality and his life—
And he starts to go downhill after a positive HIV test in the late 80’s/early 90’s. He gives up and drops out of school because fuck it, you know? He probably gets addicted to coke, hangs out at the seedy clubs. He looses himself.
But after a close overdoses, he has some kind of crazy, drug induced dream where he’s given a purpose. And he gets clean, becomes an advocate for other young, gay men. Provides free testing and anonymous classes, he wants to be the role model he never had
