Drabble: A Little Messy! (--sssshHHHHH i was never here... never, here nEveR)
“Hey, Minato, what’s this fo-“ Sora had been turning around, uncapping a bottle of something - the label read cu-something, he thought - to show to Minato when he tripped over a discarded rolling pin (the very same Sora had put down on the counter behind him, or so he thought. It must have rolled off while he wasn’t looking). He fell forward, arms windmilling a little as he tried to use them to catch his balance. Instead, all he managed to do was get a bunch of brown powder everywhere in the air and in his and Minato’s clothes as his elbows slammed onto the cooking counter in front of him…and his hands tipped over cooking utensils and ingredients.
Flour exploded into the air as cooking batter tipped over in the bowl it was in, splattering the mixture onto both Minato and Sora - as well as the floor. Blinking, Sora lifted a hand, feeling the dough that had caught it rise and stick to it a little. There was a nice - if a little sloppy - imprint of his palm on the dough when he pulled away. “Um.” Sora paused, looking at the mess that had been made. Cooking…had never been his forte anyway. He had told Minato as such, but decided to try anyway, especially since Minato had asked him to help.
“How did you…” Minato trailed off, a blank look on his face. He’d asked Sora to help him because he wasn’t excited about cooking, especially by himself, and he thought having someone like Sora around would help time pass by. He’d known his friend was somewhat of a clutz in the kitchen, but this much?
“It was an accident?” Sora tried, before he began scrunching up his nose as a strong, putrid smell filled his nostrils. “What-“ Sneezing, Sora covered his nose and mouth with his arm. “Wha’ ihf -aht?” He asked, voice muffled by his batter stained sleeve.
Covering his own nose with his hand, Minato narrowed his eyes. That was a strong smell. It almost smelled like some sort of spice. He looked over the mess of a room and spotted an abandoned bottle nearby Sora. “Cumin - 100% Natural!” It read. “Sora.” He said, and Sora blinked his squinted eyes that were beginning to water. “That was Cumin. A spice.” They were making bread and pancakes. Why did Sora have cumin out?
Silence reigned for a few moments, and Sora just barely stopped himself from licking his lips when he remembered he was covered in batter, flour, and cumin. “So…How about giving me one ‘get out free’ pass, huh?” He asked, laughing a little. Mostly because he already knew the answer and, therefore, his fate.
“Not a chance.” Minato responded.
