thanks!!! and yeah, it was based off icarus flying too close to the sun (so the wings are crafted) as i was thinking about s4 and ruby saying ‘you didn't need the feather to fly, you had it in you the whole time, dumbo’ and the sea i wanted to represent the demon blood as well as the impending apocalypse. i was thinking abt lucifer as the ‘light bearer’ in kind of representing loosely the sun that sam flies ‘too closely to’ (:

there was only gonna be the one fic—what I was calling “character bleed wip” for a while—but the amount of research I wanted to do to feel like I could execute that concept effectively was quite silly for what would ultimately amount to actorman rpf unlikely to appeal to the new audience I was fantasizing about reaching. if I’m going to keep writing supernatural fic I think I would rather spend that effort on samndean, though there are of course unique audience challenges there as well. if you’re me 😀

what's your preferred way to give sam a head trauma 😄

There's a couple good examples I could riff off of from SPN. Game Night (14x17) or that Christmas episode (3x08), that episode with Donatello (can't remember which one rn).

I think (14x17) is my favorite example. Sam is bleeding and disoriented. It's not an effect that could've been achieved with say a bat or a glass bottle. It's very spur of the moment, and he doesn't instantly pass out from the impact.

I'm also a sucker for car crash fics that include Sam getting knocked out after smashing his head into the dash, steering wheel, or window. He wakes up bleeding and disoriented ✅.

I also think like a nail board or the bat Negan carries around from TWD would be interesting (don't ask me about it I haven't seen the show), a single hit and it gets stuck in his head, you have to wriggle it out, stepping on his back to pull it out. Bleeding ✅ Disoriented ✅

You've probably noticed a pattern.
