We had @alexheadwine at the tasting table yesterday taking us through the current releases. Each wine amazing, I am a huge fan of the Stone Garden Riesling - it’s how I like my Riesling dry & zesty. But the reds are where he shines. From the Head Red Wines to the Ancestor Grenache and Red Head Shiraz, you can see the evolution of his winemaking style and the developing power of the fruit characters. From tier to tier you can look back at the previous wines and see the direction he was taking to create that “next level”. Personally @$25 I don’t think you can get better value drinkers than the Head Red Shiraz & GSM but at the other end of the spectrum I honestly think the Red Head Shiraz @$120 presents value - an incredibly powerful rich but elegant wine. There is no hype or marketing budget built in, you get what you pay for: an incredibly intense, flavoursome and well made example of cool climate Eden Valley Shiraz from the Flaxman Vineyard.
