Solo drumming in the forest! 😂 A friend once told me I’m very hippie and I was like 🤔 “I am?” ...then I contemplated my life and how I show up in the world and was like “...ohhhh...yeah 😎.” It’s funny how it takes someone describing you to realize that almost everyone sees you a certain way except yourself. 🙃 👟 This photo was taken after my very first Rage Walk and right before I got eaten up by mosquitoes trying to drum amongst the trees 🤣 . Yup I went on a Rage Walk. I learned about it from a book I’ve been reading called Not Nice. No music, no audiobooks...just you and your rage hahahahaha. I’m not one to be very angry or harbor rage and I definitely struggled fighting off happy thoughts to refocus on negative emotions until my timer went off but these days I have had to come to terms with my feelings and frustrations. ☁️ Last week I found out that my aunt’s best friend who I grew up seeing during family visits passed away from COVID-19. My aunt considered her like a sister. Days before her death I told a friend that so many people are going to be experiencing loss. By that I don’t just mean death but loss of health due to COVID side affects even after recovering, loss of jobs, homes, businesses, loss of mental health, loss of family, friendships and connections because people are having difficult but necessary conversations. I have had a lot of loss in what I had considered to be my closest friendships over the last few months and I’ve been so saddened that so many people generally don’t care to do the work to keep friendships alive and can let go so effortlessly. It’s ok to be disappointed. We will be disappointed and we will disappoint but we will also pull out our drums, go into the forest, go on a rage walk and get over it 😂 🥁. #healinghippie #ragewalk #drum #djembe #naturalhair #blackhippie #covid19 #loss #postragewalksmiles (at Durham, North Carolina) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDO9MgzJF-1/?igshid=w2skdpob0ban
