I sought this album out because I thought Slayer’s cover of Dissident Aggressor was awesome, when I heard this I realised JP’s was even better! This is. In no particular order, ten of my all-time favourite albums, and/or albums that made a significant impact on me when I first discovered them. One a day for ten days, I’m supposed to nominate someone else to do the same but can’t be bothered. Go ahead and nominate yourself if you like. Also I’m taking way longer than 10 days to do this. Day 3: Seventh Son of a Seventh Son by Iron Maiden. Maybe the most divisive album of their career? It certainly has its fans and then there’s a whole lot of people whom couldn’t fully get on board with its direction. Either way you look at it, this is the best Iron Maiden album. I started my collection off with “Best of the Beast”, and then through research learned that “Number of the Beast” and “Powerslave” were the essential albums to have. But from that “best of” I had always been drawn to “The Clairvoyant”, “The Evil That Man Do” and “Can I play With Madness?” so I naturally found my way to this album, and holy shit “Moonchild” is so fucking good! Anyway, I think this album in a lot of ways shaped my love for more weird albums and bands, but also stemmed from my childhood exposure through dad to bands like Jethro Tull, King Crimson and Yes.
