Jiren blinked at the snap of the towel, turning slowly to face Hearts, his facial expression flickering between a mixture of irritation and confusion.

“What are you doing in my bathroom,” he asked, wrapping his own towel around his waist to prevent any further towel-snapping.  Should he have been bothered by the fact that Hearts had definitely just seen him naked?  Maybe.  Was he?  No.

Jiren chose not to answer the questions, instead taking a moment to study the way the other had been captured.

“What manner of containment is this,” he asked instead.  “Can it be broken from the outside?”  He didn’t entirely understand how this sort of imprisonment worked; he could see the parchment that was obviously some manner of seal, but he wasn’t sure if he could simply rip it off and nullify the entire thing or if something more powerful was needed.

“You truly think so little of me,” he responded to the other, still pacing around the enclosure, attempting to determine a plan of attack, “that you believe I would come here to mock you?”  He had far better things to do than that.  He wouldn’t be here if Hearts wasn’t, well...  Sort of his friend.  At least, someone who didn’t completely annoy him, and talked to him perhaps more than Toppo did (somehow).

“I assume you know how to shatter this?”

He adjusts his visor, and looks directly into her eyes.

“I think the only person you’re protecting from heartbreak is you. It would kill you if someone you cared about was happy with me.

You gotta grow past that or you’re going to have friends that resent you for not letting them do what they want.”

Hearts wags a finger in her direction.

“Don’t come at me with that.”

“What--” She gasped. How dared he?! 

“Screw you! You don’t even know me, it’s all your stupid mind-reading stuff! My friends know I mean the best for them!”

“And don’t you dare shake that finger in front of me! I’ll break it!”

   “That’s a loaded thing to say,” He chirps, cocks his head, hops a brow. A hand settles on his hip; “And I can’t tell if you’re being genuine, or if you just want me to make you feel better.”

   He pauses. “Or if you’re--trying to say something else?” And frowns.

   He--manages a laugh.

   “What--Okay, I’ll bite! 

   “What do you mean?”

“I’m actually here to see Fu. But he isn’t where he normally is - so I thought he might be hanging with you.

It was worth a shot.”

“What-- Again?” After all the times she had told him not to bother Fu?! Did he even hear her at all?! “I told you, quit pestering him! Maybe you can’t find him because he does not want you to find him!”

And at that, she realised she hadn’t heard from him for... A while. A long while.

“Well, he’s not here. And if he was, I wouldn’t tell you anyways.”
