     “ What are you thinking, my love ? ” He’d been watching the other make his observations with his own bit of fascination. Everything was really quite the  SHOCK  for either male— having barely been able to grasp a glimpse at the ‘ future of technology ’ when faced with the Nautilus— and while he had  THOUSANDS  of questions and wonders regarding how everything functioned and came to be, he could settle for the moment. Content with seeing how the gears turned in his partner’s head and all the little expressions that came and went— knowing the detective would have plenty aversion simply because he didn’t  YET  understand. That was a way they differed he supposed. Arsène himself was rather enthusiastic.

          “ It’s an interesting place, is it not ? To think magic would be  REAL  and granted to everyone. Though I’m sure even the mundane things will appear like ‘ magic ’ to people like us. I wonder if it’ll be as easy as  USUAL  to adapt. ”

I just don’t see why you are so dedicated to catch him. Did he murder your family or something? Hurt your dog? There must be a reason why. And not just because he’s a cutpurse. That can’t be the only reason”.

          “. . .” If she could avoid long conversations, it would benefit her. Nicole was a bit of a hermit and honestly, being seen and out in public like this was not really her thing. Yet...Lupin asked her to accompany him, and she did. When it was time to dip out, she dipped out. He offered to walk her home and it was very kind. Her only reason for venturing back out...was that book.

           Having it safely returned, she kept it close to her chest. “I pu’ i’ down while I was helpin’ this kid find their momma. I think someone mistook i’ fer onna their own books bu’ then jus’...discarded i’ when they realized i’ wasn’. Bu’...thank ya fer returnin’ i’.”

     It was difficult to hold back another bout of laughter and he  KNEW  it showed in the way his shoulders trembled just slightly and the hand that came to conceal his lips. It would be an action meant to  MASK  the way a smile yearned to twitch into place—  played off instead an expression of hurt with furrowed brows and a small pout. It was an exaggeration even for him and he knew well that his partner knew  INSTANTLY.  So in the end they were both playing a game ? A shame it was that the thief would count this as a win for  HIMSELF.

          “ A jest ? My love, you’re too cruel. What would I do if we  WERE  to quarrel ? My heart aches at just the thought. I’ll give you as many kisses as you desire but I say this too— I’ll be expecting  YOU  to repay me in turn for this terrible fright. ”

     “ What ? Over just that ? ” He chuckled in a manner that was wholly unapologetic. Was it terrible of him ? Perhaps so. But it was oh so  FUN  to mess with the other now and then. Besides, he always made up for it. Though might it be possible to take this a little further ?

          “ I don’t see anything  WRONG  with what I’ve done. We’re both busy and you’re not terribly fond of interruptions. Though if I’ve slighted you in any way should I see myself out ? Perhaps a walk would be suitable to reflect upon my actions. ”

     Ask and he shall receive. Though the thief felt a  TAD  on the mischievous side this day. And so rather than their usual count or even an affection lasting more than a brief moment, there came but one  CHASTE  kiss. Routine was something of great importance to the detective and Arsène knew all too well how much it would bother his lover. To be met with a look of pure confusion and a hint of betrayal was well  WORTH  the small jape. He would pay for it later.

“Please do not touch the ears or tail, I already had someone burned because of it, nya.” The Doctor warned the person as he narrowed his eyes,

“I don’t even know why people touch them when I explicitly told them not to...nyaa....” The tail has been swooshing around in irritation, the flames looking like they’re about to fly everywhere yet they stayed on the tail.

     It wasn’t any sort of surprise that the other was able to catch onto his activities. Arsène had long gotten used to the detective somehow knowing and slipping mention in between idle conversation. It was something extraordinary and while he frequently tried to  HIDE— play it off as if he hadn’t done exactly what was insinuated— it was fascinating nonetheless. Some might think it a  PAIN  to not be able to keep secrets. ( Especially of the criminal sort ). Yet Arsène was some odd exception to this. He  LOVED  how well his beloved knew him.

          And besides, it wasn’t as if he was truly attempting to hide anything. Why would he ? This was the tale of a detective  KNOWINGLY  dating a great thief !

     A short chuckle left the man as he faced the other with a grin. “ Whatever do you mean, my love ? I’ve been on exceptional behavior since we’ve arrived. For what reason could I possibly wish to jeopardize that ? ” No, there weren’t any lies to be told. Merely a short  GAME  of how long it would take the younger to admit to his actions.
