How ... terrible. She’d known already a new farmer had stumbled into town (perhaps quite literally, given the rumors that had floated her way), but she hadn’t ever intended to properly meet him. Not in such a compromising way, at that. She sits upon the ground, having fervently denied help getting up only moments before. She’s skittish as is, too worried to accept a hand outstretched to her even with her gloves on, but she hopes appearing so shaken won’t be strange after having been attacked by a monster so late at night. Likely she’d just seem too frightened from being caught off guard.
“I ... well. Hopefully needing aid won’t be a recurring issue.” Finally, she finds her voice. Soft-spoken she may be, but she pulls her gaze away from where the monster had been moments before to glance up at him before moving to lift herself up to her feet. “You have better things to do than spend time rescuing me. I should’ve stayed home tonight...” She knew better than to try sneaking into the town in the dead of night, and yet it didn’t stop her. Foolish wishing on her part.
A beat passes and she realizes, painfully, that she’s coming off very rude. She hadn’t... even given him her gratitude. The monster couldn’t have hurt her, not without touching her skin and melting itself from the poison, but still... “Thank you,” she adds, one arm moving to self consciously wrap around her midsection. “I would be in trouble if you hadn’t shown up. I thought everyone would... be asleep by now.” She hated being seen out and about like this. Best she remain the ghost rumored to haunt the mansion in the forest. “I’m sorry for the trouble...”

In the end the monster had been more scared of them than they were of it. After Raguna appeared and brandished his weapon it had quickly chosen the path of least resistance. With one last snarl it turned tail and fled back into the brush to find a less pointy source of a meal or ... whatever it was after? Raguna wondered if it had been defending something, but the issue at hand was the woman who he had inadvertently saved. One that was insistent on helping herself despite his suspicion she may have been hurt in the fall.
Maybe it was a way of holding onto her independence and not appearing weak? Well, Raguna wouldn’t blame her for that. He’d already met a number of ‘characters’ since arriving in town, running into one more at this point would have been par for the course. Just a few days since moving in and already it felt like he had several pages of things ahead of him to get working on. Someone content to get by without pushing their woes onto him was refreshing by comparison. Though he didn’t recall any of the other townsfolk mentioning someone by this description living there. Could she be a traveler as well? He had lots of questions for someone who unfortunately appeared quite nervous. Not that he could blame her after being attacked like that. Fortunately, she was okay.
“Well sure, nobody wants to be in need of assistance, but it doesn’t mean you should be worried to ask if you end up like that anyway. You’re welcome for the help, either way. I normally wouldn’t be out this late myself, but some errands back in town ran long and I wanted to see more of the area while I had the time. Believe me, once I start working I’ll be turning in much earlier.” And waking earlier. A light chuckle before standing back to his feet as well and adjusting the claymore on his back.
“My name’s Raguna. Are you going to be okay getting home? Actually, where were you going this late at night..?”
