CHAPTER 2 SPOILERS!! This is one of my shorter essay-ish paragraphs, since there's no song lyrics or anything, just my (critical) thoughts.
Well.
I was SO hoping Dyle wouldn't die but alas, here we are.
What Bendy did was stupid, and selfish. His fatal flaw IS being selfish, even if he isnt trying to be. We know that he makes his entire life about his illness, refusing to really enjoy the time he has left.
Once he sees that chance to be free, he leaps for it. He is DESPERATE to live, he is doing anything, absolutely anything. Including sacrificing Dyle. I saw an argument once about Bendy leaving him as his entire family was in the rest of the train, but this counts for all of them! And all of them would have saved Dyle, apart from Bendy!!!
Cuphead is a dead body. He can't even walk properly in it, we have seen that. YET HE STILL HELPS DYLE. All of them have their whole life back there, yet Bendy is the only one who backs up.
They all have everything to lose in the carriage behind, but they all decide to save Dyle. Dyle would save Bendy, even when he NEEDS those capsules.
A) SELFISH
Bendy HAS to live. If you've seen the Iron Lung movie, he has a very similar thought process. He will do anything to get the ability to live a normal life, a normal amount of life, just anything so his brother isn't alone, and Bendy isn't sick. Even if that means sacrificing people. To be fair, he barely knew Dyle. He wasn't expecting to see him again once they got off the train, and he did tell Dyle to not get the capsules. It wasn't worth dying for. Bendy did try.
HOWEVER.
He didn't try hard enough. He called Dyle his friend, the first friend Dyle ever had (one he considered a real friend). He was relying on Dyle's kindness to even let them on the train, and Dyle did. He practically saved the gang from the massive searcher and being caught.
Bendy bit the hand that fed him. He bit the hand and tore off that middle finger.
Parallels. Bendy is on the same side, is being helped by Dyle.
When Dyle asks for help, he leaves him.
Regardless of which way you see it, Bendy is selfish for this. He could have done something, anything, any attempt would be better than what he actually did.
B) RASH DECISIONS

What Bendy did was also quite stupid and had a pretty clear lack of thought other than 'I need to live'. Dyle is the one running this train. We don't know what happens if he's gone, if it will even keep running. Dyle also knows Gardenview and the people in it much more than the rest of the (current) gang. He would help them around, even keep them hidden or clear their name. Without Dyle, what are they going to do? Bendy has chewed off his own leg to get out the snare, and now he's limping.

PREPARE TO HAVE THIS BECOME INNACURATE
Dandy is originally super happy to see Bendy, then realises Dyle is dead and absolutely freaks out, leading them to Shelly (which is why their first meeting is very jarring) That's why it's a perfect five! Dandy does care for Dyle (look at his expression when they first met) and when Bendy (who he presumably ended on bad terms with) just killed his advisor.
Bendy killing Dyle was him not thinking about the consequences of the future, and only focused on the now, the here in order to survive even a second longer.
I find him MORE interesting after this, and I prefer him being more of a morally grey/'evil' character than a perfect MC, but I hate his decision. I wish he could have done it differently, but the way it is written is AMAZING. This is one of the only times I can think of where I had strong emotions for a character's choices. This was done perfectly, I was SO angry at Bendy for what he did. I love that!!

'Don't be [negative emotion] at all' Dyle is a machine(presumably built by Mickey, who we know isn't the most empathic) , we can see he was built to be something to work, something he says himself. He doesn't have friends, he's built for a task. He can't have emotions, that deviates from his task.

'family Madrigal' He is still a Gardenview toon! He is still part of it, even if he isn't in the limelight! Or any light at all..
'I'm fine, I am totally fine' same point as before, he shouldn't show negative emotion.

'I will stand on the side as you shine' Stars shine. We also know Advisor's are like right-hand men. To the side. Dyle is also NOT very well-known, as Sheba doesn't know him well enough to even get his name right. Dandy outshines him in personality and status.
'I'm not fine' Despite his best to hide it, Dyle DOES have emotions. He has hopes and dreams and desperation to be worthy of the advisor of somebody like Dandy. We know he trusts him and looks up to him, Dandy is a 'very good boss' to Dyle, even giving him gifts for his train, despite no passengers ever being on it. flowerhour..

'Can't control the morning rain or a hurricane' Astro (Along with his cloud motifs, he can also control dreams, and this can lead to somebody having a 'hurricane' of a day or a 'morning rain' of one.
'Can't keep down the unspoken invisible pain' Vee. (Vee is in direct competition and rivalry with Dandy, while also being mechanical, and she is both more popular and less 'sensitive' than him. Vee also hurts being to the side of Dandy, but she is better at it. She never cracks)
I can't take another night up in my room' Dyle has his own room, it's MASSIVE. And isolated, tucked away just like Dyle is. He spends a lot of his time there.
'Always waiting on a miracle' He is ALWAYS waiting to be in the spotlight.

Dyle in the game REALLY wants to be part of the show, desperate to be part of ANYTHING, anything to be seen and appreciated. We can see he is getting fed up of it too, going so far as to say it in an emergency channel.

Dyle DOES a lot of the work, he actually does way more than people expect. He's behind the scenes, running the entire show, both in DW and MOTM. He can do everything all the other Stars/Mains do, he's just overlooked!!
'Show this family something new' He is the only one who works the trains in both medias, he carries all the supplies.

The ink machine was a miracle to toons, it gave them hope (until it 'broke', just like the candle in Encanto'
'Patient, steadfast, steady' Dyle is reliable. He is a clock, he keeps on a schedule. He has waited so long for a chance in the spotlight, as a star or a character in the show.
A lot of this is speculation as we don't know ALL that much about Dandy or Gardenview in general, nor Dyle's backstory, so I might do a revised version!
AS ALWAYS, LEAVE YOUR OPINION!! I love seeing the other ways people interpret Dyle's character!!
