You can eat this vegan dark roast yeast bread as a snack or as a side dish with your favorite vegan dishes. It's a hearty loaf with hints of cocoa and molasses.
Ingredients: 4 cups bread flour. 2 teaspoons instant yeast. 2 tablespoons dark cocoa powder. 1 tablespoon molasses. 1 tablespoon maple syrup. 1 teaspoon salt. 1 1/2 cups warm water. 2 tablespoons olive oil.
Instructions: In a large mixing bowl, combine bread flour, instant yeast, dark cocoa powder, molasses, maple syrup, and salt. Gradually add warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size. Preheat the oven to 375F 190C. Punch down the risen dough and shape it into a loaf. Place the shaped loaf onto a greased baking sheet or into a greased loaf pan. Cover the loaf with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes. Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until it sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom. Allow the bread to cool before slicing and serving.
