Whelp, I've finally done it. Took a little longer than I expected, but sometimes that's just the way it goes!
As thanks for helping me reach 1k+ kudos on Heat Code, I asked my lovely beta readers to each pick a scene from the fic for me to draw for your enjoyment!
Thank you all so much again for all of the support, it's been absolutely mind-blowing to me; especially considering I only had 4 chapters out around the time we hit this incredible milestone

3. It always starts off with a daydream and spirals from there, usually I write it down immediately so I don't forget- even if I'm in the middle of something. And I need absolute quiet - no music, no videos in the background, no podcasts, and if someone interacts with me or something/someone else within earshot, I'm instantly ripped from my flow and have to reset my brain with a calm game or something to get back into it. A lot of the time this makes my wips look choppy and full of holes! Very fun filling them in
10. I have so many wips that I thought it'd be fun to share a handful of them haha!
17. Throw a fit /j
I do other things like play games and watch anime! While writing is a massive part of my life, I can't let it control me and risk turning my favourite hobby against myself. It really sucks when creative block hits, especially if induced by burnout, because it lasts for so long. Luckily, I've gotten pretty good at mitigating it! Taking a break to watch something or relax with one of my favourite games or idles in between certain amounts of words or whenever my brain 'stops working' usually helps perk me right back up - like a plant with water!
27. The writing itself /hj
I absolutely adore writing heartfelt conversations if that wasn't obvious with Heat Code haha which makes it very funny that my least favourite thing to write is actually dialogue. I agonize over it!! If I can't hear the character saying it, I type and retype until I can. Gruesome stuff
55. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that throughout the entirety of my life, throughout every fandom and media I've written for (so, so many), my favourite character to write is by far Caine. He's painfully relatable in what we do know about him, and easy to headcanon with what we don't - and writing about a nonhuman character that is so painfully sapient yet always having its sapience questioned- Wowza. It's such a freeing and fun experience! Second favourite would have to be Sokka from A:tLA; I love my little boyfailure and his equally failing found family. And I wouldn't say it's been really affected or swayed by audience response, but I will say that I've grown a lot more confident in how I portray characters in general, thanks to my amazing readers!
64. Ohh, so many things. Boundary establishment and adherence, crying, characters discovering kinks/interests on accident, love and worship, learning together, crying, characters surprising their partners with their sadomasochistic tendencies, crying- hey, did I mention crying?
Are we ever going to pick at the Red n Blue dot lore in Heat Code or not? IDC if you do or don't, but have you heard of the "Caine is a combination or Red n Blue and wouldn't exist if the absorption/mixing didn't happen"?
While I'm not going to give too much away - both because I like keeping secrets and because I don't want to get anyone's hopes up in any which way - I can say that the answer technically already exists within the chapters that have been posted, if you look closely enough! 🤭
