I find it surprising that Wuthering Heights 2026 ends with Heathcliff & Cathy in bed together, embracing, both as adults (with Cathy dead) and as children. It reminded me of the end of Nosferatu with Ellen & Orlok embracing in bed. Death and the Maiden.
I agree. The ending is evocative of “Nosferatu” (with the leeches, the blood and the embrace):
Although, I also connected this shot with BBC 2009 “Wuthering Heights” of Heathcliff embracing Cathy’s skeleton in her coffin, in the past. And both Eggers and Fennell’s films have a “Romeo and Juliet” motif; while it’s obvious in WH, the crew of “Nosferatu” connected it to the ending of the film.
