My friend literally said the same thing yesterday and I called him out on it and I had to explain rape culture to everyone and they thought I was insane
It's amazing to me how common this nonsense is. Seriously, it's not even logical. It's not like when someone gets attacked by a shark we act like it's the victim's fault. No, we acknowledge that the shark did it, and we have comprehensive systems in place to prevent sharks from attacking people, instead of just treating sharks as an inevitable fact of life that people are responsible for avoiding as long as possible.
That's just craziness to me. Unthinking, instinct-driven chomp-fish are held more accountable for their actions than human beings who can very easily choose not to attack anyone.
