Tapa del Volumen #2 de Heatlands.
Tapa: Heatlands: Schorched Earth (Nodo 1)
30 Day Movie Challenge: Day 2
A movie I feel is underrated:
Heartlands (2002)
Directed by Damien O'Donnell Writen by Paul Fraser, Richard Jobson & Andrew Keyte
This movie is such a hidden gem straight out of the British Film Industry and from the director of East is East. Martin Sheen plays Colin, a simple man who enjoys his simple pleasures. His life is relatively uninteresting. But, when his wife leaves him for the captain of his darts team and the glamour of Blackpool, he decides to hop on his scooter and win his simple life back. In the grand scheme of life on Earth, Colin's journey is not important, neither are any of the things that 'normal' people do when they face a turning point in theirs lives. That is the beauty of Heartlands, Colin represents the average man in Modern England and this film celebrates the epic tales that occur within normality. The cinematography captures the countryside of Northern England beautifully and proves that not everywhere 'up north' is as bleak as we are so commonly lead to believe. I found out about Heartlands because my late Grandfather was cast as an Irish Priest in the film, unfortunately his scene is somewhere on the cutting room floor and with no DVD extras on offer I'll never get to see how well he did. If you like British Cinema, journeys of self discovery and road movies, then I recommend this film to you.
